Map conversion question
If this is a stupid question I apologise, but the map editor is one thing I've spent VERY little time with.
In "Steel Panthers Generals Edition" there is a minicampaign on the Yangtze River Patrol.
Is it possible to convert the map (not the scenario, just the map) for use in WinSMBT?

Re: Map conversion question
No, the old maps of the original SSI games are in a completely different and obsolete format.

Re: Map conversion question
Along the same lines - is it possible to use SP:WW2 maps in SPMBT?
If not, has anyone considered writing a script to convert?

Re: Map conversion question
SPWW2 and SPMBT use the same code so are totally compatible between the two games

A bit off topic, but...

Of course not - the game is developed from SP2, not SP1. We don't have the original SP1 code. Plus our campaign code uses completely different code from any of the previous games.
In addition the various SP campaign disks were developed by a third party (Noavastar?) and used their own proprietary executable code which hooked into the original game, so there would be copyright issues at the very least.
Conversion utilities for DOS versions (other than our own as we provided back in 2005 for migration purposes) are not going to happen.

Re: Map conversion question
Probably I wasn't clear - my question was is it possible to convert SP1 campaign into SP1 scenarios.
I just have good memories playing them years ago.

Re: Map conversion question
If you wanted to do it manually, hex by hex and unit by unit in the SP1 editor (did SP1 even have one?) - then perhaps. You would best have 2 computers working side by side, or 2 DOSBOX sessions open perhaps since its a mere 640x480 screen. But no automated method exists.
(Didn't know anyone even still played SP1.)

Re: Map conversion question
Yes. I was thinking about dosbox.
Scenario editor is included in SP1, but I couldn't spot any obvious way to open the campaign's scenarios.
I don't play SP1 (and I don't see a reason to play SP1 when WinSPWW2 is around), but for the memories I wanted to recreate some of those '39 campaign fights.
