Re: davanas
If you gift of reason them, they get some magic. 1 in Blood and/or air most of the time. Not terribly useful since air boosters are so damn expensive, but still better than nothing.
What's better, they have 4 arm slots (and 1 misc slot) and they are sacred. Since CBM 1.8 made Tarts completely unusable, I'd say Davanas are a decent investment of 15 nature gems.

Re: davanas
In the latest CBM GoR cost 6... or is it 8N? All the more reason for it. Well, the B lets them join sabbath and get reverse communion buffing going, and popping virgin pills to wipe the fatigue goes without saying! Yum!
They also come with 3x magic weapons base, with effect of MR paralyze sacred.

Re: davanas
Actually, if you have a good bless. (If you are Lanka you probably have). They are excellent troops. Even without GoR'ing them.
Their base weapons are excellent vs sacreds. No need to improve those. And if you give them equipment, those weapons disappear. (Which kinda sucks, if you give them a shield, they also lose one of their weapons).
In most situations Rakshasha Warriors are better troops, as you can get 20 for 80 slaves). But if you are up against a low amount of very heavy hitting sacreds the Davanas would rock. Lead them with a Mandeha for autodarkness and blessing, and they are good to go. (But that applies to all Lanka blood summons).
But I would always try to GoR them.

Re: davanas
thank you. actually, it would have been a better idea to spring for the rakshasi, I'm kind of getting swarmed by pangaea and atlantis at the moment, and these three big oafs would take more resources than I have to sc
also, I don't use cbm. don't really need it in single player, and I bet it would just confuse the AI anyways

Re: davanas
davana are the single best troop summon in the game, and are horribly underpriced. Sure, you can even GoR the occasional one, but they make excellent shock troops as is.
Of course, 4-armed SCs are also quite good, but you'll never GoR every davana you can summon.
Basically, your slaves should go to dakini, davana, and the occasional mandeha. The rest of the stuff is at best placeholders until you can summon these.

Re: davanas
Are 6 davana really worth giving up 3 dakini?
I'm not saying they're bad, but compared to the flexibility of a Dakini, I just couldn't see summoning them. Battle mages, teleporting/flying raiders/anti-SCs vs good troops. I suppose if you've hit the limit of Dakini you can equip. I've only played Patala in MP, so any Dakini I couldn't equip were needed for blood hunting. Maybe with Lanka, you'll have more blood and less need for non-thug Dakini.
On the other hand, with demon armies, you'll have more need for Mandeha...

I just don't see myself raising an army of them. it's a lot of blood slaves, you know?

If you're to blood 8 research and aren't pulling in 150+ slaves per turn, you're doing something wrong. Summon more dakini.

Mandehas are highly situational. They are absolutely great on paper, but in fact they are rather vulnerable; 100% weakness to fire is hard to counter. Mandeha is more of a support SC, if such a thing even exists in Dominions.
Dakini are also very squishy. Sure, their mirror image and blood vengeance help, but they are not made to tank, and their damage is so-so. A very good raider, a nice support caster, a decent thug.
Should I need a damage-dealer, I'd rather GoR a Davana, now that GoR is so extremly cheap.
