AAA availability
Can anyone give a rough rule of thumb or more detailed if wish of the level of AAA thats likely to be assigned. Realise might well vary by time frame & nation.
More intreasted in light than heavy AAA
But rough rule of thumb something like 1 gun per Infantry company or 10 tanks would be nice to know.
Cheers

Re: AAA availability
In the game or in reality ?
In reality of WWII something like one AAA battery/AAMG company per regiment/brigade, but that was a best case. Often AA was lost, or
delayed, especially for Red Army.
In game vs AI with AI advantage 150 I'm using 1 battery per battalion (4 SPAA + 5 37mm AAA for 2 tank companies and 3 inf companies)

Hi Serg talking for real best case on paper so have something to base it on.
Size of regiment brigade varies quite a bit as does size of tank companies,
I am currently playing Germans in 41
3 Inf Comp
Tank Comp (22 tanks)
6 Armoured cars
Arty 8 Mtrs
2 Troops of guns one offboard.
I have 4 AA units protecting in reality best case what should I have then can use as a guide
Also when air threat gets worse did they manage to improve AA cover so slightly more from say 44 on.
If you know are Russia & Allies similar, thanks.

Re: AAA availability
Dunno much, IIRC US SOP was to attach AAA Bn to a division... Ah, have found the book. So:
Inf. divisions got either Gun, Mobile Bn (16x90mm, 16xM51 .50 quad) or Automatic Weapons, Mobile (32x40mm; 32xM51)
Armor div got either Automatic Weapons, Semimobile (as Mobile, but less transport) or Automatic Weapons, Self-Propelled (32xM15 CGMC; 32xM16 MGMC)

Re: AAA availability
Good day Imp
Did a little looking around and here's how I figure it. AAA assets were assigned at Division level as an AAA Bn with 12 light AA guns. What these 12 guns were really depended on the unit and dates etc. Looking though various Orbats and TO&E's KG's and Bn's were assigned AAA from Div and for a KG your size 4 AAA pieces would not be out of line.
As for types, that really from what I could see depended on availability. I saw units with no AAA, a mixture of towed pieces and SPAA, all the way to units with 251/17 20mm with every Pz Gren Zug (this being an exception although desired). The most I saw besides the later was units KG's with 6 pieces usually at least 2 or more being towed.
Sorry there does not seem to be a set answer but I think this sure give you some guidelines, most certainly for game purposes. BTW I also saw units with just about every AAA piece being different so mixing it up especially as time marches on doesn't seem out of line either. Early war units I would recruit your AAA sections with all the same kit. The odds and sods approach was seen in the later years.
I hope this helps.

Re: AAA availability
Greets Bob
That helps a lot I found the 12 light guns references to. What it defends & heavy guns i.e. 88 flaks varied quite a bit & did my head in.
I geustimated 4 guns was about right so cheers for the confirm
Late war guess they were cobled out of what was available hence the variety creeping in. You took what you could get.
