Default Unit_construction file question.

Does anybody know if it is possible to call entries in Unit_construction.txt by its design names from design.txt file ? The same way as Vehicle_construction.txt works in Gold ? Or basic unit types must be always used ?

If it is impossible, I want to suggest it for a new patch. The reason is simple: AI files out homeworlds with primitive earlier game designs and no space left for more advanced designs. It is also impossible to teach AI to make good mix of different types of WP.

Yes, it is possible to instruct AI to build separete weapon platforms designs in Vehicle_construction file but there is no way to guarantee the correct mixture and construction timing on planets.

Default Re: Unit_construction file question.

I think one of the TDM guys tried it, but don't know if it worked or not. I just used standard design types in the constructUnits file, and called for the specific units in the ConstructVehicle file to make sure the alternate types got built.
