MP issue due to 3.14 upgrade
Currently in one of the MP games I'm playing ( Fearsome Legions ) there is this issue that started after the host has upgraded.
When connecting to server the following happens:
1. Choose your nation. I choose LA Pythium.
2. Passwd prompt.
3. The game is stuck in an infinite loop switching between displaying a message on "Receiving turn file" and showing the turn status (wrongly, according to my py_eye client).
As a result I can't receive my turn.
Any Ideas why this happens and how to resolve this?
On the game thread Meglobob has responded with some more information, quote:
"
Wraithlord its probably due to the new patch changing Pythiums nation number.
Pasha had the problem in the Epotara game and we had to redo the turn. You may want to PM Pasha or post on the main thread to try and resolve your problem.
Errm...much wierdness...if you access the game using 3.10, I get the same infinite loop as Wraithlord. Using 3.14 its ok.
When Zach upgraded the server it reset the turn timer, so the turn never hosted, so we are still on the same turn.
"
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve the issue.

Re: MP issue due to 3.14 upgrade
Pasha's game is a PBEM game, but Pasha and I figured out that the problem was because the file names changed from Pythium to "Late_Pythium." I believe changing the .2h name manually solved the problem and allowed the host to recognize the orders (everything seemed like it went through ok when I got the turn back at least) but the server issue you're having sounds a bit more complex though with the infinite loop, so I'm not sure if the same solution will work, since all of the upload/download stuff was handled by manipulating the files directly as opposed to working through a possible nation number.
You might also want to make sure you didn't get staled, since that was a problem as well (the host didn't recognize my .2h because the naming convention changed)

Re: MP issue due to 3.14 upgrade
When the 3.14 upgrade was still ongoing, I tried to connect to a Zach game with the 3.10 client first, and saw the "Receiving Turn File" infinite loop. Using the 3.14 client instead fixed the problem.
Are you sure you are connecting using the 3.14 client?
If so, you might want to try deleting the old .2h and .trn files from this game's savedgames folder, that's the only thing I can think of that might help.

Same thing happens to me...with Pythium, in fact.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is mentioned in the patch notes.
LA pythium now has its proper file name. I don't think this affects ongoing games, but it will probably make the llamaserver unsure about what to send.

This is what Kristoffer said, so its the changed file name thats causing the problem, just like Micah said.

Yes. I had to manually change the names of the files once to "late_pythium". That appears to have solved the problem.

Re: MP issue due to 3.14 upgrade
Ok, so what's the solution?
Edit: What file? Is on the server, client, or both?
Thanks!

Re: MP issue due to 3.14 upgrade
Thank you guys. Your advise has helped me resolve the issue.
First, I'd like to confirm that both 3.10 and 3.14 have caused the infinite loop with LA Pythium.
Second, trying to delete the game folder (so that hopefully the game will create and the turns right) still results in the loop.
The procedure that has helped me get past the issue is indeed changing the names of both .trn and .2h files to pythium to late_pythium.
Again, Thank you guys!

Hmm, didn't work for me. Does something need to be changed on the server as well?

Re: MP issue due to 3.14 upgrade
I'm not sure about change to the server, well except going back to 3.10.
What nation are you playing and what was the change you've made to the file names?
