Re: Oohh My! I\'ve Created a Monster!!!
Life for a life and petrify kill him, but phoenix pyre makes him reappear elsewhere on the battlefield.
Banish to inferno...
I'm not sure. He will reappear later on, even then.

A defending player could cast life for life a few times before he even casts his first spell (assuming it's phoenix pyre). Defending you would want to script his phoenix pyre first.

I usually do- his current one was earthpower first, this time, as the opponent hadn't gotten blood or earth magic just yet.

Pfff... In one of the other threads, there is a build that can kill him on turn
one without breaking a sweat. It's called Tartarian killer, or something, but
that setup will work just as well against your Dai-Oni.
(It's actually called "Setting up an Ettin?")
Nothing, and I do mean NOTHING, no matter how empowered, wished for, or pimped
out, can survive a dedicated teleport squad scripted to kill it. You need
support even for the best SC.
Your fabled Dai-Oni would die, for example, to a bunch of naked Seraphs scripted
to attack monster, orb lightning (x4). He may kill two on his first turn, and
after that will never wake up.

Re: Oohh My! I\'ve Created a Monster!!!
Even with phoenix pyre and high reinvigoration(which I love and use often) it is very possible to kill an enemy enough times in one turn for the fatigue from the pyre to kill them.

Its pretty safe to assume that you aren't overly familiar with the idea of hyperbole as it applies to the english language. Of course a teleport squad of 4 seraphs should be able to kill him. four 133 pearl summons had better be able to take out a national mage armed with 40 or so gems worth of items.
"This fighter jet is unbeatable"
"Uh, not if I shot 4 nukes at it. I bet that would take it out."
Thank you. 4 nukes will take out anything.

Re: Oohh My! I\'ve Created a Monster!!!
A single banish to inferno/claws of cocytus mage should be able to do it, iirc.
A decent number of mages casting petrify/life for a life ect should also do it(or a group of mages casting enough destructive spells per round to kill him several times over).

Actually, I meant a few Caelian Seraphs, naked, build anywhere, and costing 140g
each. Orb lightning carries huge fatigue, won't miss point blank, etc...
I could do it with two, but I would have to put some equipment on them. Your
Dai-Oni is has its uses but is anything but unkillable, just like any SC that
relies on buffing.
> Thank you. 4 nukes will take out anything.
No, these are not nukes. A magazine of 9mm rounds in a Makarov is more like it.

Re: Oohh My! I\'ve Created a Monster!!!
Actually, I've been quite impressed with Dai Oni + rainbow bless- which you can get out really early. And with few sacreds, its a lot more practical than two high blesses.
Blesses
Air (20% doesn't sound like much, but it helps)
Earth (2 reinvig helps)
Fire (2 attack isn't really necessary, but...)
Water (2 defense helps)
Nature (5% regen)
Death (not that strong, but could combine with spells or fire shield, or blade wind)
Astral (magic resist on a banishable unit? What's not to like)
Blood (+2 strength? Sorry, not worth it. Though blood magic has a nice demon strength buffing spell. Does it stack with strength of giants? I hope so.)
So.. with fire magic's indirect bonus, you're already at twenty attack.
So, with water 4, air 4, nature 4, astral 4, earth 4, you've got the key components for an early monster. Not unstoppable, but powerful much earlier than those counters are available. Taking defense from 12 to 14 is quite significant. And once you replace the Heavy Samurai Armor (def -3), you're especially hard to touch. A simple black steel (light version, not full plate) increases defense by an additional two, and decreases encumbrance by two. Etc, etcetera. But this thread is for real monsters, not early thugs.
