Default River Patrol Craft and Airlifts

I was just wondering is it possible to airlift the PT Boats and PBRs etc with helicopters like in "Apocalypse Now"? I tried all the Vietnam era US Choppers and Boats with no luck. I even tried the Prime Movers, Tank Transports and Barge Carriers with no luck!

Is there a vehicle that can transport boats over land to an river or lake?

Is there a way to "Reload" the Barge Carrier with new barges or LCs?

Thanks in advance for the answers, I'm really enjoying SP:MBT and will be posting more here.

No to the first question. I've tried hehe, tried to make airmobile artillery platforms and the rest of it. Outside of the scope of the game code.

On the second question, is it not possible to simply reload the barge carrier by placing them in the same hex? They should both be capable of being in the shore hexes.

Thanks for the answers.

I tried to use the load command (L) for the barge carrier and all I suceed in is loading the carrier on the barge. Never loading the barge back on its carrier or loading a new barge or LC hidden ashore.

I seem to remember this problem myself (I tested a number of barge things in attempts to create armored vehicle launched bridges as well). I'm not sure if its possible come to think of it.

The tank transporter can carry the small river rafts such as the rigid raiders etc. I took a utility vehicle and put it under the "tank transporter" classification and it works well! Also the Israeli OOB has the "Timsakh" (in the miscelaneous vehicle section) which is similar to the M2 Bridging Raft/Ferry which is used by NATO. This has a road speed similar to a tank transporter and a water speed of about 4. In reality the M2 Ferry is a series of these vehicles which are linked up to form a floating bridge. However, I 'm not sure this will help you if you want to load a PBR/gunboat though. Hope this helps.

Maybe TPTB could lower the carry cost of the PBRs etc to around 50-something (or (1)50 I think would put them in line with armored vehicles) to put them in line with the max capacity of the biggest Transports.

An Abrams tank weighs around 60 to 70 tons depending on the model while a a PBR MK II weighs in at only 9 tons. If a tank transporter can carry a 60 ton Abrams it should be able to lug a PBR or two around.

I just checked, and the rigid raiders and zodiacs have a weight of 1. But then you could only carry them on a tank transporter, or heavy lift chopper such as the CH-53/
CH-47.

But can you unload them in water? I tried droping them out a C-130 in to a river with bad results (ie they sank).

thatguy96,

You haven't been able to airlift arty??

I have in some of my AASLT scenarios. I have been wondering why arty has such a low carry cost. I can literly load 4 tubes.

A 120mm mortor has a carry cost of 2.
A 105mm howitzer ahs a cost of 1.
A 155mm howitzer has a cost of 3.

I can load 2 tube in a medium truck.

Am i missing something?

Yes. I'm talking about the airmobile artillery platform, which I had created for my Vietnam Specific OOB pack, was developed during the conflict to allow the placement of 105mm guns on any terrain (including water).

Moving standard artillery is fine. Depositing things like my airmobile arty platform onto water is not hehe. Seemed worthless to me to have the platform if I could not place it on water, since it was basically identical to the regular towed howitzer. The realism bugged me too, as technically only the CH-54 could lift the platform and howitzer at the same time, while the CH-47 carried the two separately.
