Bugs in Deluxe v1.95?
I've finally patched up to v1.95, and was wondering if anyone else has encountered these two bugs.
I started a game via the Quick Start page. I cannot get this game to do autosaves. I go to the Options menu and set it to autosave each turn, but no files have been saved, and every time I resume the game or load a manual save of it, the autosave option has been turned off again. I haven't tried yet to start a new game with autosave turned on in the set up screens.
The second bug is that if I let the music play, the game eventually locks up completely. How long this takes varies, but I have to kill the task to get out of the game. After this happens, my sound card remains frozen; other games have no sound, and when I try to restart, Windows98 locks up at the point where it tries to play the fanfare before it shuts down. I have to cycle the power to clear this and reboot.
I'm not sure that either of these are worth reporting to Aaron, especially if I'm the only person who's encountered them.

Re: Bugs in Deluxe v1.95?
Did you make a copy of your 1.91 install and do the patch? If so, some of the settings like music on/off etc. will overwrite each other in the registry...

Re: Bugs in Deluxe v1.95?
I patched my v1.84 install to v1.95. I currently have separate installs of v1.49, v1.91, and v1.95; I keep at least one older install in case I need to troubleshoot old games as a PBW admin.
Of course, now that I've publically complained about it, the autosave problem has gone away.

Re: Bugs in Deluxe v1.95?
I have an occasional lock-up with Deluxe. I'm also running Windoze 98. I'm not sure if this is the only set of circumstances where it happens, but it seems to occur after watching a replay of ship movements. In the initial part of the replay there may be one or more instance when the music stutters. After the replay I may find that my system is locked, and I have to reboot. It doesn't happen every time, but it sure is annoying when it does.

You should go ahead and email the problem to Aaron or customer service at SFI.

In case anyone is interested, simply shutting off the music stops this from happening.
