OT- Peoples Republic of the Federation
While researching stuff for a game (the Terran empire history is useful) I came across this website
http://canonfodder.ex-astris-scienti...ration_Society
I already knew the Federation was socialist, now it turns out its a borderline military dictatorship.

Re: OT- Peoples Republic of the Federation
Ehh. There's quite a few sites out there proclaiming the Federation a militaristic fascist (or even nazi) state. No big deal.
And so what if you see a lot of Starfleet in the ST government? After all, they're not a purely military organization (most ship classes are designated as Explorers) and who's to say there aren't any civilian advisors, etc. offscreen?
All in all, quite the case of Deja Moo.

Well the Feddies are a bunch of commies but if anything they are too SOFT militarily not too powerful. Heck when is starfleet NOT getting it's butt kicked up between it's shoulder blades?

Not before Romulans have some fun with it first, though.

And let's not forget the Borg, Dominion and 8472, while we're at it

Moot point. Many of those "Explorer" ships are fairly well armed...that's like saying an oceanographic "research" vessel with 100mm cannons and ship-to-shore missiles is just an "exploration" vessel.

And how many times in the hundreds of ST episodes have you seen these advisors? If they existed, wouldn't they come into the plot at some point in the hundreds of hours of episodes?
Star Trek's on the way out anyways. I read something recently; that the Stargate series is rivalling the Star Trek series in popularity, and still growing. No wonder too, the acting is in general much better and the storylines much better.

The Star Trek franchise died of asphyxiation up its own back passage about a decade ago. It's just that the show's creators, the millions of fans and just about everyone else in the world except me didn't notice it happening.

At least, it was until we had a season where every episode featured a bigger, badder enemy trying to blow up/capture/otherwise neutralize the earth and/or the entire galaxy... Not very creative or interesting in my opinion.

Re: OT- Peoples Republic of the Federation
Perhaps you're thinking of it the wrong way.
Kirk was the only real military type of guy.
Everybody else is a politician on the front lines.
Now the mirror universe, on the other hand... that's military in the government.
