fractals
I put a new ship set in race/scenario archive.
Hope somebody will find it amusing.
Cheers, Oleg.

Re: fractals
It can be improved but it's a good start.
I downloaded the program and I'm making some experiments. I already have too many half-made shipsets, but this one has potential.
Your Version already looks better than Ed Kolis' Fractalian Empire

Re: fractals
Unique, interesting. Damn I like them
Reminds me of a 'pure energy' type race. Working along the same lines myself using the se4 'suns' and 'stars' pictures (as I have no real artistic ability .) Will be looking forward to future sets, welcome aboard!

Re: fractals
Oleg, I've been looking for a shipset for my Tiktsin, and these are almost perfect for them!
You might be interested in my Hypermaze Mod (URL in sig). My background bitmaps for the hyperspace sectors are a series of fractals that the software I used (Sterling1.7) call "Newton's Rose". I'm working on an updated Version, because I forgot to include tiles for the combat display, plus a "lite" Version for people who don't want to download a 7M .zip

Re: fractals
Thanks all for comments.
I did't know there is another ship set already with close name. I would choose a different name then.
Capng and Deathstalker: You can freely use these pictures for your races. I will try to make few more. However, I have no artistic abilities and really hope that A. Lescano would have enough spare time to work on this ship set.
Oleg.

Re: fractals
Oleg, thanks, this shipset would be perfect for a race that I have been working on since the 'beginning of time' ....The 'Enbalmed', a race of space zombies that animate the dead bodies of others. Beings of pure negative energy. Now all I have to do is finish the AI files (Religious/Psychic race)......

Re: fractals
Oleg, what mod(s) did you have installed when you created the AI files?
I was testing something else, and noticed that the Fractal had been chosen as a random AI, so I switched them to human control to take a look at them. On their turn I got an error message about the default fleet formation of Compact, which I believe is from TDM-Modpack. When they started designing new ships, they used several non-standard ship types, as well.

Re: fractals
Yes, it is TDM-modpack AI.
I used Master Belisarius' Pyrochette for most of AI files. I made some obvious changes in research and facility construction files since Pyrochette has Temporal technology while fractals has crystolline. AI_setting and AI_anger files are borrowed from God-Emperor' Shadow. The ship designs are borrowed from Tampa-Gamer' Piundon. I did not use the whole Piundon AI (so far, the best crystolline race in TDM-mod) because IMHO, Master Belisarius races are simply the best AI right now even though too agressive for my taste - that is why there is some Shadow influence.
Just like with Pyrochette, there is a problem as a random pick race - SE IV does not use more than one advanced race trait, so fractals will have 1000 points wasted.
Oleg.
