Default Movement Point question

According to the manual, both written and Online, if a ship loses it's bridge, life support or crew quarters, it is reduced to one movement point.
I have got a damaged destroyer which has lost it's crew quarters and one of it's engines (but it still has five engines intact) which has still got two movement points. How come ?? Is this a bug ??

cheers.

Does the ship have any components that give it a movement bonus? Maybe the bonus is being added to the move 1 base.

Loss of B/CQ/LS does not, in fact reduce you to 1 MP.

1MP is the minimum speed that their loss will reduce you to.

No Bridge = Half Movement
No Crew Quarters = Half Movement
No LifeSupport = One Quarter Movement

These multiply together, so a ship without bridge or crew quarters gets 1/4 movement, and a ship lacking bridge and lifesupport gets 1/8th movement.
This is rounded down.

So, a ship with no lifesupport, but 13 MP normally, will still have 3 MP to limp home on.

So presumably, since my ship still had a bridge and life support and 5 engines which would result in 2.5 Movement Points, this is rounded down to 2 ?

You would think that loss of life support would be the end of the crew and therefore possibly the ship alhough I suppose it could be on Auto Pilot and the ship's systems maintained by the ship computer.

Just assume that the surviving crew have spacesuits or something, and they can get air tanks from their supply storage.

If all else fails, you could probably set an autopilot, or use remote controls from any nearby ships/planets. The computer/autopilot is not designed to handly the entire ship alone like a full MC is, and remote control of a ship would have a speed-of-light delay plus limited feedback.

Just as losing your ships bridge means your crew has a hell of a time piloting their ship, thus reducing movement to one.

When you lose your crew quarters, all your staff are stuck (presumably) with sleeping on the bridge, and with all the snoring and so on, they have a hard time getting anything done. So be glad they can move at all
