Default Dom2Demo install on Linux

I have heard good things about Dominions II, so thought I'd give it a try. The problem is there is no documentation for installing the demo in Linux. I did find a post that had instructions on installing the full version from the CD, but not all the instructions apply to the demo. I did get it to run once, then had to reboot the computer (dual boot to windows). Since I rebooted back into Linux, Dom2demo will not run. I keep getting:
Code:
  dom2demo
Ngot gick fel!
myloadmalloc: can't open ./guiborder2.tga
Ngot gick fel!
myloadmalloc: can't open ./guiborder2.tga
Aborted

Anybody got some ideas on how to get this to work again?

Gentoo Linux
AMD 3200+
Asus A7V8X MB
Geforce 440MX

Thanks,
Al

Default Re: Dom2Demo install on Linux

Linux dom2 will look for its data files in these directories:
~/dominions2
/usr/local/games/dominions2
.

So if you have installed it somewhere else you should cd to the Dominions directory (with all data files) before starting the game.

Thanks for the response. I figured it out late (2AM) last night. I've got it in /usr/local/games/dom2demo, so when I cd to that directory first, then enter dom2demo, it works fine.
