Default Which spells COULD have been cooler.

This post is like the one I started a moment ago, but is for spells that could have add a lot of flavor, but failed to do so. They likely will need more explanation.

Like:
Bind Wraithlord and Lichcraft-
They're almost the same spell! I think these guys could be tweeked a little, maybe a random path for the liches or something to make them cooler. A more powerful version of the spells could also add flavor.

This forum should list spells that you thought would be SO Cool the first time you cast them, but then you just find yourself casting them repeatedly without even paying attention to who you get/how it works OR spells you never cast again.

I'll start off with Kithaironic Lion. The spell is a bit of a letdown, because the lion is either overpriced or underpowered. I'd like to think its underpowered, because you get just one, and I like the flavor of 1 unit summons. I wouldn't mind having a harder to cast, more expensive summoning spell here, as long as it was balanced with the mariginally more usefull multiple eathereal unit summoning available at this level.

Global Tempature Changing Spells: Illwinter is never used (and could be much cooler), and second sun is even worse.

I agree, I didn't notice enough of an effect when casting illwinter (in sp) to make it worthwhile. I'd like to see them much more devastating, say on par with burden of time for non-undead nations.

Treelords kinda bummed me out. I was hoping for some more interesting abilities. I thought the treelords would be as cool as the elemental royalty, but for nature.

Yes, I've been playing Zen's spell mod so much I almost forgot how much they sucked in the base game...

I thought about casting Illwinter with a blood-based Caelum in late game to relieve me from the need to cast Wolven Winter over and over again. But the unrest that is said to go along with Illwinter prevented me from doing so (I really need to pay my seraphs!)...

...besides, I never got the time and patience for a testgame, so I actually do not know whether this spell is good or bad...

In Illwinter's first game, Conquest of Elysium, seasons were very important. During winter, all your income was divided by 5, and every season lasted for 5 turns (IIRC). There were no rituals (except summons) as most of us know them, but in Temples and similar some mages could perform special rituals that took only time. I found Illwinter out that way...

It was also cool because the game was tile-based, and winter really stood out.

Winters should be made much more severe. Something like 3/4th of the supplies and income, plus the temperature's effects. Having temperature scales be more severe would still be interesting.

I don't see how they are even close to the same. The wraithlord has amazing physical statistics, is ethereal, and only has death 3, so he's really only useful in a thug role. The demilich has decent statistics, and has death 4, so he is immediately a more cost effective choice if you don't want to spend a lot of gems on equipment.

I apologize. I was wondering if I made a mistake about that spell after I posted. You see, as a rule I only summon Liches, apparently I just forgot why.

So, how about, The Looming Hell, which never seems to have any real effect on the game. By the time you get this spell your enemies wouldn't dare come up against your demons with regular units. It would be cooler if you could cast it sooner, as it would help mictlan expand, for instance.
