Default Conquored worlds and hapiness?

Im having trouble keeping my conquored worlds happy.

The happiness.txt file list the events that alter happiness, for a planet presumably, for each type of racial trait. One grip I have is you cant seem to find out what the "happiness" trait of another race is.

The file lists things like Our/Enemy troops on planet and Our/Enemy ships in system etc.

What constitues Our and Enemy? If I have taken over a planet and have my races ships and troops on it, does the population on the planet (a different race) regard the units as Ours or Enemy?

Some people have also suggested removing troops from a conquored planet but Point 63 from the SE4 Q&A html page (on the malafador site) indicates that you do need troops on a planet to keep it from revolting. What gives?

Thanks
Sean

As far as I know the foreign population gets equal to your own with the only exception of the atmosphere they breathe. So it is your happiness type that is applied and your ships and troups are regarded as "ours". Just don't mix different races on the same planet. In my experience this makes them quite angry.

I don't think there's a way to look at another race's happiness trait within the game, but you can look it up for the AIs in the race's AI_General.txt file.

"Our" is anything you claim or control. "Enemy" is anybody you don't have a treaty with.

When you conquer a world, the population starts off really ticked at you, but settles down over time. It should improve faster if you have trooops on the ground and/or ships in orbit.

(Corrections for anything I've gotten wrong here welcomed.)
