Default SC Question

Been playing with a standard assortment of SC's in a SP game. Am around turn 50, so nothing really challenging them yet, which brings me to questions about their limits. For a standard outfitted ice devil, how will it fare against one or more of the standard high level summons? Tarrasques, abominations, tartarians, even vastnesses are all within the realm of the AI. Are different SC strategies called for here? Are higher level SC's going to fare better (eg Helio's, Arch Devil's, Banelords)?

A final question: one thread of answers might be around not letting your opponents get to the level where they can summon hordes of the above super summons. In a large game w/a large map, is that feasible? ie is there an end game strategy that so convincingly tips the game to one player that victory is all but assured (OK, clamming - there I said it)?

Thanks in advance for the thoughtful answers.

Default Re: SC Question

You might try some of my map variations such as Mazes and Monsters. http://www.dom2minions.com/MazeMons.shtml

Its a progress in work and Ive been debating kicking it up a notch in difficulty, but you will probably find it a more interesting test-ground in solo-play than you have now. The "Poke in the Eye" map also. The PokeEye is a smaller map and lets you reach the AIs quicker but they arent the real problem of the map anyway so the epic sized map with MazeMons might be better for this.

If your really interested I can crank up the settings real high and compile an .exe you can run to generate you a new map everytime you want to do this.

Default Re: SC Question

in sp 2 things assure you win in the lategame :
- your mentioned clamming
- real bloodhunting as a blood sacrifice nation .
just build hordes of vampires and dominionpush .
the ai can't cope too well with this

sc's are good too of course . but even against the ai later you need to give them perhaps an army as assistence . because swarming + some highlevel toys can be a danger for many scs . so lategame even the ai can manage to take out single scs .

all in all i think on faerun with impossible ai settings some ais get quite large numbers and give a nice fight .

if you can bring up utterdark + other extreme damage spells though the ai has almost lost .
