Default Holiday Diplomacy

If anyone got any weird Messages from me this 4th of July weekend...well weirder then i normally send...I was doing a large number of turns quickly on a laptop in my hotel room at the Borgata in Atlantic City. Seems I was soused for a number of them. Please retry and I will be more diplomatic. By the way for anyone with a penchant for gambling(and babes!) you have to check out the Borgata.

i was at the New York, New York in Vegas and it was awesome. I won just enough to exactly pay for everything i did over about 40 hours and walked away with exactly what i took out of the ATM in my pocket.

I found out how to beat the odds gambling.
My wife and I took a bus trip that went thru nevada. Everyplace the bus stopped everyone got off and hit the machines or tables, whatever was available. When we hit the end of the state only one person on the bus was a big winner. A guy who looked old enough to play, but wasnt.

What would happen was.. he would gamble and it would go up or down abit. Then he would hit a jackpot. They would come over, card him, and kick him out (with his winnings). THATS the way to beat the system. Its not the gambling you have to beat, its the psychology they are using that keeps you coming back to lose your winnings.

thats very very true. Every trip to vegas i've ever been on (like 8) ive been up at one point or another, just quite often i end up losing it all back, plus some.

I didnt know they'd let you keep your winnings if you hit it big and were under 21... i thought they'd keep it or something.

Even if you quit right after you hit a jackpot you'll still lose money in the long run...

You can still win in the casinos:
1) You can find the video poker games that pay 99% or better and combine them with comps, this way you can earn enough to pay for your food and room if you are good.
2) You can play blackjack and count the cards, until they kick you out and blacklist you. And you have to be really good.
3) You can get really good at (regular) poker, where you don't have to beat the house, just the other players.

None of these are easy. Best thing to do is just play whatever game you like and make your bets small enough that you don't lose more than you can afford.

I think they generally do. Last I heard, it wasn't even a choice of the casino, the gaming commission wouldn't *let* a casino pay out to a player that was known to be under-age.

I don't have any explanation for the situation Gandalf mentioned, though .
Maybe they were small enough that it paid out at the machine and didn't require someone to come pay him ? Or maybe something changed.

Firstly, only gamble if you are desperate. Figure that the Mafia will give you a nice pair of cement shoes if you don't cough up the cash, period, and you don't have enough.

Take everything you have. Slap it down on something that looks like the odds are only slightly against you. Walk away with whatever you win. You're done. Either you're now saved (and never do this again!), or you're still a dead man.

Actually I am happy to report that at least in Atlantic City and the Connecticut Indian casinos they have stopped kicking out card counters as long as you dont make it obvious to the other gamblers. As one of the pit bosses put it to me " you give hope to all the other guys, we take in 10 million a day (omg) you can pick up some lose change." Its fun and profitable if you can hold your concentration.
