What type of Map do you want (ONLY THOSE WITHIN THE POLL) Most.
These are the Choices in the Poll:
Brittan Map (The Islands Only)Accurate Provinces (~65)?
Japan Map (The Islands Only)Accurate Provinces (~45+)?
China (Romance of the 3Kingdom style)?
Japan Map (Islands Only) More provinces (~80)?
Brittan Map (Islands Only) More Provinces (~100)?
I will probably be doing all of the above (with maybe the exception of the Rot3K) if time and effort and frustration permit.
If you don't like any of the choices because you are fanatic about a specific map type/size, please don't post saying I should add X or Y size map or type map, without coming up with some damn good reasons outside of "I like to play on big maps".

I'm not sure what you mean by Romance of the Three Kingdoms China. I assume it's a somekind of wellknown historical scenario?
Many thanks for your offer to make smaller (below 100 provinces) maps Zen. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I was beginning to fear that I would have to resort to cutting the larger maps into smaller pieces.

Romance of the 3 Kingdoms was an old school game series of TBS. I don't know if any of the new school war dogs who had a Nintendo as a kid remember it, but I do quite fondly.
If you want to become more familiar, try searching the web, I believe there is a newer Version on current platforms out there for today's kids.

Both japan and China would be very interesting. China (in addition to a possible theme) because of the diversity of the province type. Japan because its Japan.
Another probably well received map would be of (edit: suggestion removed)
But I'll shut up now.

I would love to see the Three Kingdoms-era China map. Hands down, that's my favorite of the poll.

The Europe map is nearly that, Water Nations have a definite advantage on it. I was also thinking of a Micronesia map where it was mostly ocean with a few land for an Intense Water/Island fight, but I will wait until the 3rd water race is out before I try that (Not to mention that making an almost pure water map is much easier).

They recently came out with Version 9.0 of that, I hear.

It's a fairly well known historical period, occurring around 150-180 AD in China. There's a TBS wargame series based around it, as Zen mentioned.

It's a historical period, and also the name of a classic novelization of the same period, which most males grown up in any Chinese-influenced culture know by heart.
It was a period where the Emperor's power was almost gone, and dozens of warlords with conflicting ideals waged endless wars against one another, making it one of the bloodiest eras in the history of China. The novelization of this era describes the vast strategic battles in detail, while also focusing on each of the hundreds of different characters who take part. It does a fascinating job of making most of them memorable, likable and identifiable, even in this modern world almost two thousand years since that era.
In the 1980's Koei, a developer well known for making solid strategy titles, made this historical period into a game which became an instant classic. As Norfleet mentiond, part IX of the series came out Last year, and the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" series was and still is considered by most Asian wargamers as the best turn-based strategy game ever created.
Apparently, they didn't hear of Dominions yet
But seriously, it is an extremely deep and involving strategy game made especially so by the fact that you can play your favourite general of the period (whose personal achievements and history you know by heart) and either try to recreate history, or make a "what if?" scenario.
However, due to its deep historic roots and attempts at accurate protrayal, I don't believe the game will be as fun to anyone who's not intimately familiar with the historical novel of the same name.

Re: What type of Map do you want (ONLY THOSE WITHIN THE POLL) Most.
On a related note, Japan also had a similar bloody period where dozens of Warlords eached vyed for power, called the "Zenkoku" or "Warring States" era.
Koei (again) created another classic TBS wargame based on this historical era named "Nobunaga's Ambition", and this one's naturally even more popular than "Romance of Three Kingdoms" in Japan.
Currently in its 10th iteration, the "Nobunaga's Ambition" shares many similarities to "Romance of Three Kingdoms" and are in some ways better (possibly due to patriotic reasons, since Koei is a Japanese developer). However, due in large part to its subject nature, the game failed to gain much success outside of Japan, and is Banned outright in countries such as Korea and China.
I hate the Japanese for what they did in the second World War, but I have to admit that their "Warring States" era was a politically and strategically interesting period. In fact, many historical analysts agree that this period of long internal strife set the stage for a natural "survival of the fittest", and strengthened Japan for its subsequent campaigns of external conquest.
