Point Defense Cannons
If I have several PDC's on a ship, do I need Multi-Plex Tracking to target more than one fighter or seeker, or do the PDC's target multiple targets regardless?

Re: Point Defense Cannons
No multiplex needed. They don't count against the limit, at least when firing automatically.

Re: Point Defense Cannons
They will fire at the first target that enters their range and shoot until its dead. If there are any mounts left, then they will shoot at the next target that come into range. If you have unfired PD cannons the check for targets in range will occur after you move that ship or after an enemy move, so you can trigger your PD mounts to fire on a pack of missiles by purposefully moving into range of the missiles.

Re: Point Defense Cannons
And on the topic of PDC's, does anyone know why the hit damage value went from 95 to 65? ...were they that unbalanced? I'm not really sure when they did, but I can distinctly remember PDC V's having 95 damage...

Re: Point Defense Cannons
To me they were, but I have heavily used missiles and fighter in the past, when I first got SEIV around ver 1.19 I used to get toasted every time I went up against an enemy with PDC. Even at 65 I still see lots of fighter casualties and intercepted missiles. I think part of the problem is PD weaps will always hit the same unit in a fighter or seeker stack until it is destroyed and then move onto the next one.

Re: Point Defense Cannons
Given that fighters cost no maintenance, I think that point defence is pretty well balanced. If someone wants to use fighters, they should have to use lots of em to win against capital ships....

Re: Point Defense Cannons
I always felt PDC were to effective but now I think they were overly effective due to the way fighter shields work.
There will always be a way to make PD or fighters have an advantage, the players are too devious
As long as they can be modded to fit your way of thinking then there shouldn't be to many complaints.
Now if we could only get direct fire weapons to act like PDC then we could have opportunity fire!
