Satellites work sometimes and not other times
Most of the time if I build satellites,
they don't show up visually next to my planet in combat mode. They are listed, along with my platforms, but I can't
fire them. I reinstalled game and patch, and the satellites would only show up when I clicked on auto combat. And then they didn't show up. Have installed several times, have TDM_pack and most other mods, sound, Klingon/Romulan files etc. I dunno.

Re: Satellites work sometimes and not other times
If they're in your cargo section on the planet they won't be available in combat unless you launch them... For them to always protect the planet you need to launch them into orbit... use the lauch/recover units button, and place all the sats into space.

Re: Satellites work sometimes and not other times
the problem with launching all of them is that they appear in one group, and might be on the wrong side of the planet. I usually launch them multiple times is Groups of two or three, that way I get good coverage

Does this really work , thought they clump together always in combat view ?

He must be talking about in Tactical Combat; I've never tried to launch a satellite in Tactical. Launching from a planet on the main map does put all the sats in one group, since at least Version 1.27

Yes, I've tried that in combat sim. They are separate Groups in tactical but it seems they favor one side of the planet (see attached pic), so the spread is not well-balanced.
