win 98 problems
I can't get space horse to run. I'm running win98, amd 1.4G, geforce 4 mx 420 64MB. The screen goes black after homeworld intro. The music continues and can be toggled on and off by F2. But it does nothing else.

Re: win 98 problems
I should add that I've applied the patch. Still doesn't work.

Re: win 98 problems
This is the first I've heard of this particular problem. Does it do it for both Single PC and Network Versions, or just one of them?
After the movies, if you press F4 to toggle the movies off, then restart the game, does it still have a black screen?
Unfortunately, my email server is down right now, so I can only communication through this forum.

Re: win 98 problems
hello, thx for the prompt reply! The problem occurs with both single pc and network. After I did what you suggested and pressed F4, the game reverts back to the desktop whenever I try to start it.

Re: win 98 problems
hi again. as the game was reverting back to the desktop whenever i tried to run it, i decided to reinstall. This time, the intro was disabled and I was able to play it. But when I quit the game and tried to restart the game again, it would revert again to the desktop. The only solution I have at the moment seems to be reinstalling the game each time.

Re: win 98 problems
Try rebooting your system before starting the game. I don't have Space HoRSE, but I have a couple other games that only run properly if they're the first thing run after a restart.
Another thing I've seen solve a problem with exiting to the Desktop is to reduce the screen resolution and color depth.

Re: win 98 problems
Is your Version of Windows 98 the "Second Edition" or the original?

Re: win 98 problems
I have a possible fix for the launch problems a few people have been having, but I need to have a couple volunteers to test it. Please email me if you'd like to test it.

Re: win 98 problems
Adam, I'm talking about people who are having crashes when launching in Windows 98. This is not a problem you are experiencing, so I didn't ask you particularly. But you're correct, I am very busy working on the next Gilligames title. I had to take time off of that project to look into these newly reported Space HoRSE issues.
