OT: other Shrapnel games
This was an interesting thread in the Dom2 forum. How many cross-overs do we have?
Personally Ive been debating looking into TWE (The War Engine) and checking out the moddability there. Any comparisons between that and SEIV?
How about Star Fury and SEIV?
Anyone try Space HoRSE?

Re: OT: other Shrapnel games
Haven't tried it, but a long time ago, I spent many hours playing the game it was based on "M.U.L.E." I have been debating buying it.
How much is SH like MULE?
Slick.

Other games? You mean Shrapnel sells other games?

What is Dungeon Odyssey like? It must be good because Aaron created it... has anybody played it?

Re: OT: other Shrapnel games
Well, I did all the graphics in Dungeon Odyssey, and gave the game a 'retro' look. So it's like returning to the past and playing one of your favorite RPG's
I myself enjoy Dungeon Odyssey so I would recommend it to anyone who likes games like Rogue, Nethack, Angband or any other 'Roguelike' game.
Cheers!
P.S. I love that the PC Gamer review said that the graphics 'look-retro' and are not up to par with today's standards. Since I set out to make the game look 'retro', unknown to the reviewer he gave me the ultimate compliment. LOL
P.P.S. Kamog, there is a demo available, download it and give it a run. (Although the patched Version of the full game has many added features that make the game even better.)

From the demo I played, it's kind of like a poor man's Diablo. Not saying that in a negative way, but the graphics weren't anything compared to today's 3d wallet-busting games. Other than that, it's the usual explore the dungeon, slay the monsters, collect the treasure type of game.
Not that I've had the time to play them, but I've bought Star Fury, Colisseum, The War Engine, and a couple of others. I just don't have the time I used to have to play them, however; heck, I haven't even opened up the War Engine yet. If I can get in a couple of hours of SEIVG a night, then I'm a happy camper.

Re: OT: other Shrapnel games
Odyssey is interesting for a quick game. I still pull it up when I dont feel like being all that strategic. And yes its very retro.
HoRSE is a walk down memory lane for anyone who played M.U.L.E. on machines like the old commodores. Im glad that unlike many others who try to make a modern playable Version of old games, he didnt try to "improve" it beyond recognition. Or as often happens, improve it beyond ever even seeing a release of the game. Its defintely M.U.L.E.
Dominions 2 brought me here in the first place. most of the reviews have it down pat. If their score relies on things like graphics, sound, user interface, arcade action, then those are going to be average or some maybe lower compared to shelfwares. But if its deep strategy, the ability to devise your OWN tactics, massive replayability, and support from the developers with patches based on forum discussions, then it will show a high number.
Of course SEIV seems like its going to be as enjoyable for me as Dom2 for many of the same reasons.
Some of you have been around Shrapnel longer than I have but it seems like what they have are games that would have been called "garage games" and deserved a lot more attention than they were getting from the major corporation guys? (hope I didnt insult anyone there)
