Re: PBW idea "Rules of Engagement",is there enough interest?
*Kind of Bump*
I was thinking of adding a senate system were all will have a small planet with wormhole to the homesystem.
Rules ofcourse and Orion supervision in the Senate system.
You can't take a fleet through another race's wormhole.
Is there anyway of making one-way wormholes?
I could ofcourse close the wormholes after each race comes through. But it would add some tension if you had just one jump between home systems.
If I have 19 players I have to close the wormholes so that everyone can come through.
So maybe I'll open a wormhole at a time, then close it as a colonizer comes through.

One way worm holes can be done in a premade map. And you cna have more than ten in a premade map. But if you have more than ten you can't open up new ones in the game.
You could have a second system right next to the Orion home system that has a premade warp point connecting it and the Orions can open and close warp points from there to any where they want.
Edit: There's no way to make one way warppoints in the game though unfortunatly.

Re: PBW idea "Rules of Engagement",is there enough interest?
That's great.
I'll have tre special systems then.
1.The Senate with 19 one way warp holes ending on barren small moons. Made for embassies. This will be the Senate system.
2. The arena, an empty system with no wormholes. The Orions open wormholes there when someone issues a challange.
3. The Orion system (I got a real good idea of where to place this) In a secret location.
I'll start making the map later this week and put a game on the PBW.
The storm of posters in this thread makes me feel terer must be a big interest in this game !!
I'll see if I get any players for it...

Ooh, Orion! I was thinking of something similar a while back, but I couldn't figure out how to do the Orions... now is this the MOO3 era where the Orions (really Antarans) have a huge fleet or the MOO2 era where there is a lone Guardian and Antaran raiders occasionally pop out of hyperspace and glass your colonies?

PBW idea "Rules of Engagement",is there enough interest?
See page 2 as explanation of changed Topic!
I'm thinking of starting a new PBW game:
Master of orion
It will be a very large universe, 20 players. one of is the Host (me ) who plays as the Orions.
The Orions will be in a secret starsystem, no omnipotent view is allowed.
The orions never colonize any other system.
They are mucho powerful (starts with sphereworld etc), are tweaked at fighting. Have max tech at start (I found a way to do this within the rules).
All other players start with low tech, high cost, no tech trading.
You can win the game by eliminating all other players or by putting a colony on Orion prime (I guess eliminating all other will be easier).
Alliance victoris will be allowed.
You can at any time issue a challenge to the orions through the game forum.
You set the number of ships, equal for you and the orions.
A wormhole will be opened from the system you designate were you have your ships, to the Arena system were the Orions will be waiting.
if you win the challange you get a free tech for each ship you destroyed or instead of one of the tech, the location of the Orion system.
Ofcourse it's a manufactured map and I as orions will have omnipotent view.
Propably not suited for extreme newbies but if you've started in a couple of PBW games or played simultaneous a t home it will be alright.
That game would be a bit of an egokick for me !!
(I know it's a bad time due to recent Real World events , but the game wont start this week. )

Huge fleet, well; the Players will propably have bigger fleets, but not as advanced as the Orions.
But I'll have to finis another PBW game first before I can start this one.
The wife pulled the emergency break!!

All players can see where all star systems are located on the galaxy map, so these hidden systems won't exactly be hidden.

You could have several cut-off systems, though, with only one being the one with the Orions.
Also I think you can make one-way warp points using the map editor. You just can't create them during play.

hmm, wasn't there a way to stack systems in the map editor? Orion could be hidden 'under' any other system then.

Rollo Yeah, that would work. But, creating WPs there would be problematic, and it would look odd if a WP was created from the Orion system.
