Default IMPORTANT MESSAGE for PBW players and owners regarding 1.84.

If you have a game started in 1.78 that you are converting to 1.84 it's very important that you do things in the correct order or the AI will be taking your turn for you. It's more critical then past Versions, and I will explain why.

WARNING
You as a player are able to take a .gam file processed in 1.78 and open it using 1.84 and play your turn. You will not get an error doing so, BUT DO NOT DO THIS. If you do this when the host (PBW) tries to process the turn using 1.84 it will reject your .plr files because they were not created using the same Version of the game as the .gam file.

With previous patches if you opened a .gam file created under the eralier Version you got an error message. You do not get that with this Version. This might lead you to believe it is ok to play your turn using 1.84. This is incorrect.

You have to play your turn using the Version that the host (PBW) used for the LAST turn (the one just processed), not the next turn (the one about to process).

And by "the Version used to execute the Last turn" do you mean "the Version listed on the Last email notification"? Or can the Version listed on the Last email notification be different from the Version used to execute the Last turn? (Since I don't have access to the PBW server I can't see what Version is used to execute every turn, and it's especially confusing since I'm in multiple games!)

Yes, that's the same thing.

Looking at the Game Info page, you may see that the game is listed as upgraded, even though the turn was processed with the old Version. To be absolutely sure, look at the recent log entries, and see whether the turn was run before or after the game was upgraded.

OK. Here comes a dumb question. Started a 1.78 game on PBW. Is PBW going to patch to 1.84 so I will need get all my players to patch also or should games started in 1.78 stay unpatched?

OK. If I am reading this right PBW is now running 1.84? So the current turn needs to be played using 1.78, then uploaded. PBW processes it in 1.84. Then all my players patch to 1.84 and then we play the next turn in 1.84?
Sound about right?

Well, sort of. You (as owner) have to upgrade your own game to 1.84. Otherwise, it will still process in 1.78. That's fine, unless you/your players want to upgrade. The turn after you order the upgrade is still 1.78 (that's what it was when it was mailed out); the turn it mails out next is 1.84. Hope that's not too confusing (or inaccurate).

It helps. But I guess it would clear it up for me if I knew if PBW is running multiple Versions of SE4 or just the latest.
If I create a game in V1.67 or V1.78 or V1.84 and me and my players all play in that Version are player upload to PBW that will process them using the correct Version when we created the game.

Now I created a game of V1.78 TDM Modpack 3.20 and players want to upgrade to v1.84. The Last .gam file came out as v1.78, we all play in v1.78 and upload to the PBW server for processing. Does the PBW server keep and use a v1.78 Version of se4.exe to process the turn or does it use a v1.84 se4.exe for all games?

It sounds like v1.84 is used for all games now. I just thought that if you started a game in v1.78 you had to complete it in v1.78.

If its the same v1.84 for all games then all my players patch to v1.84 and we can continue in v1.84. If the PBW server keep an old v1.78 to process since that is how I created the game; I need to know how to tell the server to use V1.84 after that.

If that just confuses the issue more we may just try it and see what happens since the admin can do a replacement turn upload. But I am pretty sure one players may have patched, played his turn and uploaded already and I know I haven't patched. but I played and uploaded so at least 2 player files are using different Versions.

PBW is running a huge variety of game and mod Versions. Just because 1.84 is available for use on PBW does not mean that any old games will use it. They have to be specifically changed to use 1.84.

Thanks. That's what I thought was happening. It would be best for games I started in 1.78 to continue unpatched. If using the PBW I think. Everyone thanks for the help.
