Page 7 Patch Post Part 2 2022/2023 Campaign and the LAST!!
First, I’ll be starting were I left off in
PART 1 with a “DELETE” I missed this in the
Russian OOB. Next, I’ll be entering hopefully
a handful of new tanks mostly to cover
export versions of what the Ukraine and others have ordered. Having also
common export versions in the long run will save us a lot of time. But to get there I’ll need to make some minor but
reasonable modifications to make this work on existing tanks though I believe the
South Korean “CHANGE” (s) should be the worst of not that requires this.
Postscript it wasn’t.
One last thing, I’ve seen “
shades” of this in the forums over the years (
Rarely) that a small tank can’t be as protected as a larger one. This is a
false assumption depending on the tank. If the STEEL is close in value to the larger tank i.e.
K2 with the Protection Package of an
ABRAMS SEP than it follows the Protection Levels will about be equal with the
ONLY difference being the
K2 will require less material.
RUSSIA/DELETE/T-90A/UNIT 861/PER REFS T-90A ONLY EQUIPPED WITH SHORTORA-1 VIRSS SYSTEM.// “T-90A also has a laser warning system and an aerosol-generating system that uses 3D17 grenades of 902A Tucha (Cloud) designation.” Quote taken from refs provided in Part 1 BOTTOM of Page 4.
The” K” series tanks are at times referred to as the “
Baby ABRAMS” and I’ll be using the “peerage system” as previously used for the captured Russian tanks to the Ukraine. Also,
ALL K series tanks were
compared against each other to further “
tighten up” the numbers, with of course refs. Adjustments had to be made to better
reflect reality but
MOSTLY IMPORTANTLY to fit in the
KIA2 and K2 EXPORT. Currently I’m looking at
9 tanks from the USA & S. Korean OOB’s. K1-88 K1A1 compares to M1A1 AND
K1A2/K2 compares to M1A2/M1A2 SEP+ BY DATE OF INTRODUCTION.
A note concerning the
K1A2 I’ve
included the discussed improvements to that tank that were
brought up in the refs. The issues to follow have
delayed the K2 and K2 PIP production first were problems with the local built transmissions and COVID.
SOUTH KOREA/CHANGE/K1A1/UNIT 024/END JUN 2024 vice DEC 2025/CREW 4/HEAT HF 70 HS 40. //ALL the
K1A1 tanks are being converted to the
K1A2 standard which will end
its production run at the
end of 2023 per JANES. I’ve extended the date to have a “
safety net” in place.

K2 will be the
main frontline MBT for South Korea for
some time to come. The program was
delayed due to issues with the
locally built transmission compatibility with the engine (Similar to what happened with the
ALTAY) plus the
engine issues they’re having on top of it. This occurred at least twice in
2014 and 2020. This issue had a
direct effect on
START for K2 PIP.

The modernization of the
K1A1 was driven by the fact they needed an
improved tank for better interoperability with the K2. Development was started in
2013 to early 2014 for preproduction with the ROK
receiving the first tanks in late 2014. The production run
was to last until 2026. A lot has happened since even some of my first refs were still holding to the
2026 date. With the
escalation of events that have occurred since
2014 with
North Korea, China and more recently within the
last ~2 years leading up to and almost a year (Feb. 24th) into the war in
Ukraine. Production was
greatly increased to the point it’ll be
finished in DEC 2023. As noted for the
K1A1 I’ve built in a “
safety net” just in case. And again, I’ve just
gone ahead and built in those “newer” modifications as one of my refs
will clearly show the APS installed.

strike a good balance between the new KIA2 and the revised K2. This is why I used the
USA ABRAMS as a check between the
K1 and K2 hulls and what’s in works, which only left me to keep that
distinction in my head as I
built the K2 export. As has been reported already and posted the exporting countries keep their secrets on current and former units
for at least a couple of equipment generations or more of developmental history.

LEOPARD 2A7V UNIT 795 just recently came into German service this tank just served the purpose of providing me the “
high” numbers which for an Export version
would not be practical to use. To establish the “
lower” base it was more practical to use the
LEOPARD 2A6M UNIT 035 than the current fielded
LEOPARD 2A6M, one of the reasons for this was to give me a “
generational” gap I needed for a
better calculation for the Export model.

SPEC built
better than the
LEOPARDS of the time in
Germany. The
turret hatch is at least 2ft thick because of this it’s equipped specially designed system to operate the hatch to include a backup mechanical system. Also the
Frontal Armor was improved as well
adding 3 additional tons to the tank. By comparison the
CHALLENGER 2 STEEL TOP is 22 as well with
MERKAVA Mk 4M AT 15. This was thoroughly discussed when I submitted the
STRV-122B in Patch Post #2 for the 2012/2013 Campaign in February 18, 2013. Additional refs are in that post. Now it has been corrected.

huge jump in from
HEAT TF 55, I believe it’s from a
legacy admin error. I would
draw your attention to the
HEAT TF of the following
German units. Those are
LEOPARD 1A3 UNIT 016 and also LEOPARD 1A4 UNITS 017 – 023 all HEAT TF 65, now that increase
should be reasonable to HEAT 70, also
all the Danish tanks from
LEOPARD 1A3-DK-LEOPARD 1A5-DK UNITS 021-024 also have
HEAT TF 65. The LEOPARD 1A5 was the first to receive the
LEXON Composite add on armor.

1A5-DK were one the
first to see combat in a
rare military engagement of this
tank to date, successfully engaging
Serbian tanks in Kosovo during
Operation Bøllebank and Operation Amanda, in 1994. In the battle against a larger force of tanks, the Danish tanks were credited with
3 tank kills and killing about
120 combat troops during the battle
with no damaged or destroyed tanks on their side. Denmark put their resources mostly to increase the
HEAT values based on a “
new” combat reality that the
RPG and similar weapons posed. I believe these tanks were
deployed at least three times in their career. This is what
separates it from the German 1A5.

We have discussed the following as “
one size fits” for the following tanks because we have

Ukraine. For us it’s
MUCH EASIER to manage. For the
PLAYER there shouldn’t be any buy restrictions with possible exception of the
STRV-122A as
noted above due to the
low number being exported.
That will not be my call or recommendation.
There has been much made about the
Western tanks being the “
tip of the sword” in
future offensive moves in the
Ukrainian War. I’m looking at
Protection and does have HE ammo as they’ll need that
if trying to make to breech the enemy lines. After the country you’ll see
(D#) which indicates
how many are committed/delivered to this point information is from
JANES.

To
build or modify a tank requires good references, “Guard Rails” by this I mean you have to take account of
what came before (Generationally), what there is in the present, sometimes its peer in another OOB, and sometimes what’s to come in the near future (i.e., South Korea K2 PIP.).
All the above can
easily be interconnected and usually are. And then there’s time and that can be challenge at times. From
Page 7 to the below Page 13 required 6 Pages of hand written notes and calculations.
Don and I did this in a different manner over the
last 10 days or so via a
Secret Communications System (SCS) and the result is
this submission is ready to go.
