patrolin' dirty
They see me using gift of reason on a watcher, they hatin' because since the watcher has no overland movement he can't patrol.
I would suggest this be changed.

Re: patrolin' dirty
Click-Select the Watcher. Shift-Click-Select another commander (#2) in the province, who is able to patrol. Change the order of commander #2 (and thereby the watcher) to patrol. Control-Click-Deselect the Watcher. Tell commander #2 what you really want him to do.

Re: patrolin' dirty
shift shortcut commands also still work. A lot of them work actually. You can sitesearch when sieging, bloodhunt underwater etc.
Most of them are considered exploits. However opinions differ on this.

Re: patrolin' dirty
Sorry, I'm a little bit lost (don't understand the original question and gift of reason).
But I have normal watchers, and I get them to patrol by including them in a commander's force of patrollers? That's OK, isn't it?
Ahhhh, is this that GoR makes the Watcher a commander, then how do you get him to patrol? OK. Why waste GoR on him?

Re: patrolin' dirty
A watcher could conceivably be carried outside by peasants. That could be what your shift-X really means.
It's harder to fathom when really big things like the sphinx are involved.
And even harder when the commander is a tree. ...Well, maybe they leave the commander in place, and instead move the fortress wall, brick by brick, until the commander is no longer in the fortress?
BUT THEN what about mind-enslaved trees and statues and such! They can presumably patrol when their commander does, nevermind the roots, just like a watcher would do. Oh I've just learned about another inconsistency in the Dominions world. Oh well.

Because making a commander who isn't supposed to be a commander is awesome.

Re: patrolin' dirty
I made him a commander because I didn't feel like recruiting a mage or whatever just to patrol.
Honestly, I figured that just like when the watcher is but a soldier in an army he gets hosted to a high place before getting enchanted.
Thanks, guys, I'll try out these commands.

Re: patrolin' dirty
Well, if you just want a commander, just summon a sleeper. Get one additional unit, who can lead all the watchers, and it is cheaper in vanilla. (and can carry a bow).

Honestly, I don't even need the patrols. I just think watchers are cool. And I'm playing as Eriu, so I'm already using Sleepers (I find them very thematic). But aren't watchers magic creatures?

My "Watchers" at least are indeed magic.
But I don't know what the "sleeper" is

4n conjuration, gives a size three commander with 120 leadership and 25 standard.
They're supposed to be ancient warriors slumbering until the end of the world (the Ascension Wars), at which point they awaken to lead the armies of their god. Very cool stuff.
