World New Modmaking Resource

It's been several years since the Modmaker's Guide To The Galaxy was last updated, so I don't expect to get any new advice or clarification new out of Digital Eel. That's okay, they make games to make money, and there's not a lot of money in providing additional documentation on a game you released a long time ago.

But I've found the existing Modmaker's Guide rather incomplete. There's several topics it doesn't touch on. There's other bits that are a little vague, or hard to follow. I think this puts a rather high barrier to potential new modders.

So, in the interest of tempting some of you to try out modding, and perhaps to lure the old modders back into business, I'm setting up a new resource. It's a wiki about modding weird worlds.

You can check out the wiki at http://weirdworldsmods.wikidot.com/

My goal is to make a new page every day. Sometimes, that'll be a really short little page on a particular code. Other times, like with my recent quest page or bug page, it'll be rather longer, with plenty of useful info.

If anyone else would like to contribute, please do so. It doesn't matter what your level of modding experience is. Right now, the wiki is pretty sparse, so even someone who's only dabbled a tiny bit in modding should be able to help significantly.

I don't want the wiki to replace / displace this forum, however. We're too small a community to survive splitting up. So, please don't use the wiki to ask questions about modding, or to host your mods. Put all questions here. Post your mods here. Only add to the wiki things you've figured out about modding, which would just get lost here amongst the many threads.

Again, the wiki address is: http://weirdworldsmods.wikidot.com/. The password to edit pages is "shrapnel and eel".

P.S.: To the folks at Shrapnel Games and Digital Eel. I'm hoping it's okay with you that I set up this wiki. It links back here, and to the Modmaker's Guide, and quotes some text from both. If you feel there's any copyright / legal issues in me setting up this wiki, just let me know, and I'll gladly delete anything you find objectionable. Personally, I don't think it should be an issue, since the wiki promotes and supports your products, but I'll totally understand if you need me to change or delete anything. I'd have just put all this stuff on these forums instead of a wiki, if not for the fact that the wiki lets anyone edit posts, set up links easily, and index it all with tag clouds and the like.
