Quick turn resolution question - Storming Castle
I'm about to storm a castle that I'm fairly confident I will conquer. I am expecting an attack from the enemy on the same turn and I am also sending some mages to reinforce my besieging army on the same turn.
So if I conquer the fortress, I'm wondering if my units will hide inside when the enemies attack or if they will fight outside. In addition, I'm wondering what will happen to my mage reinforcements. Assuming I conquer the fortress will the mages:
a) Join the troops inside the castle?
b) Fight outside on the field with them?
c) Something else entirely?
Also, I would actually prefer to fight enemies attacking from outside and storm the castle on the same turn rather than have to waste time storming the castle and then fending off their puny attack. Is there any way to do both things on the same turn?

Re: Quick turn resolution question - Storming Cast
Castle storming occurs after movement&movement battles.

Similiar question:
If I move troops to a castle I am sieging, and my opponent does at the same time, who moves first? (I realize friendly movement happens first, but do I control a province when I am sieging a castle?)

Yes, you control the province. He cannot move troops inside the fort, he needs to fight you.

Re: Quick turn resolution question - Storming Cast
I've seen enemies appearing after castle storm. In such a case, my storming units moved into castle and become besieged. It may have changed after a patch, of course, - the case happened a while ago...

Re: Quick turn resolution question - Storming Cast
Are you sure it wasn't barbarians? They show up in a random event, but see the castle is already under siege, so they hide in the woods until you storm it. Then when you storm it, they besiege you! Tricky buggers.

This happens to me a lot. Both indy invaders and other nations that sneak attack me during a castle storm.

Re: Quick turn resolution question - Storming Cast
Castle siege situations suffer from at least three different behavior bugs and attacks on sieging forces by third party indies or during castle storming attempts are one of those. There's a whole section related to siege bugs marked in red in the shortlist.
