MUST-HAVE..... MUST-GET-FIRST Unique Item
There is quite a few unique items and I was just wondering what people's preference was. Here are the questions...
1. What is your MUST-HAVE unique item?
2. What unique item do you hate your rival to use against you?
3. What unique item do you see as "useless", "unworthy", or "unnecessary"?

Re: MUST-HAVE..... MUST-GET-FIRST Unique Item
If you are not playing a race that gets angels or some other sc as a national summon, Chalice is nice for the end game for tartarians.
I think after the Chalice, the Forge hammer is up there. For a race like pythium or Marignon, the forge hammer may be 1, since they get angels as sc's. But even if you do not need the chalice, it may still be number one because keeping it away from your enemies is a value also.

Re: MUST-HAVE..... MUST-GET-FIRST Unique Item
The best is the Chalice, with the Mage Bane being the other contender, since they do very different things (Chalice would win hands down, but the Gift of Health global does the same thing, so there's a second option, whereas the MB is the final word in killing a single target). I will always forge the chalice the first turn I can, and the MB 1st or second (I'll wait on the hammer of the Forge Lord usually since it's 65 gems, plus my boosters are usually busy with the chalice)
Even if you have national SC summons Tartarians are either better (See Dai-Oni at 40 gems each) or differently pathed (angels) and I wouldn't really want to alch death gems to pearls to summon up angels.
The hammer of the forge lord is merely really, really nice, not a must-have by any means.
The robe of Calius the Druid is pretty high up on the "worthless" meter, as are the sandals of the crane. The Tartarian Chains are also pretty horrid.

I tend to make good use of items that get free summons such as that wolf head item. It works well with my strategies.

1. Chalice, must have.
2. Chalice, hate someone else having it.
3. Sandals of the Crane is fairly useless.

Re: MUST-HAVE..... MUST-GET-FIRST Unique Item
You do have to hit the sc with the sword for it to kill him though. Some of the tougher sc's i have seen have a 35 defense-or glamor. So it is not automatic, especially if the sc in question can kill the sword's wielder in 1 round.

Re: MUST-HAVE..... MUST-GET-FIRST Unique Item
Chalice is good, but for death-heavy nations -- especially the Ashen Empire -- the Sceptre of Dark Regency is very, very nice. And opponents likewise won't want to see the Ashen Empire get it...

1. Soulstone is my personal favorite, even thought it's much less great than in dom2.
2. Gate stone.
3. Crown of Overmight. Better than, say, sandles of the crane, but you would waste far more trying to forge it.
