worth the trouble to call back pretender?
I am in a single player game as LA Abyssia. I took a Prince of Death with D4,B4 dominion 9. I was forced into an early war with Caeleum. Seiging Caeleums capitol took a while, even with mercs. Right after the siege I was hit by Argatha. My Empire expanded into an L formation. With the tip of the L being my capitol, the bottom left corner Caeleums Capitol the bottom right tip Argatha's Capitol. Just as I was to hit Argatha's capitol, the rest of the computer opponents declared war on me. R'lyeh is on my left in the water. Atlantis is in the middle and Jotum is at the right tip pushing though past argatha. I am forced to defend everywhere. The one saving grace is that I made the switch to blood summons early and now have about 15 vampire lords stationed though the empire and have dominion dominance. I have 6 provinces with 5000+ pop, a lab and 3 of the level 1 blood hunters in each one. All of the lines were holding accept vs the argatha/Jotun tip.
I needed some reinforcement there fast so kitted out my PoD with that 2H demon sword that gives drain life and bezerk. Some fire plate, a ring of regen, ring of luck, fire helm. I didnt have soul vortex researched. I moved him into a province that the Giants had amassed a 500 unit army against. A lucky crit by a crossbow and the prince lost an arm. Once the arm was lost his fist wasnt cutting it and he accumulated 6 or 7 injuries before finally biting it (he got cursed during the fight as well.)He is mute, blind, chest wound, crippled, lost an arm, limp, weakened. So now he has D2,B2. Is it worth calling him back for the dominion spread that he gives? I absolutely need posotive dominion as my vampire lords and vampires are reaching a critical mass to turn the tide vs the giants. Will my 2 holy 4 priests (one is a mummified profit) blood sacrificing on the borders be able to push my dominion in or should I use their time to call god?

Re: worth the trouble to call back pretender?
The PoD will lose some of the afflictions when he is called back. Maybe about 50%. But with just 2 H4 priests it will take 50/8 = 7 turns to call him back.
Your god is about 3 temple checks per turn, right? But if each H4 priest is sacrificing 4 virgins per turn, that's 8 temple checks. I don't think you should use those guys to call him back right now.
And sorry to say this, but from the point of view of a non-involved observer, that's a really funny story of your PoD's death by afflictions.

Re: worth the trouble to call back pretender?
Lol, yeah. I went the cheepie route and went for that 2hander sword. I should have alchemized some fire gems and made a blacksteel shield/fire sword combo. It was the crossbows that got him. I think the shield would have saved him vs the arrows. Although I wanted the bezerk to ensure he would stay the course. I have 0 earth gem income and no dwarven hammers. maybe i should have bit the bullet and made a wraith crown. but i didnt want to spend my precious death gems. now it looks like I will have to. This giant army is threatening 2 of my blood slave labs. I am gonna have to fly about 10 vampire lords with 4 death gems each for Lamshanka summoning to deal with it.

4 death gems? Why not 3? Either way they'll only cast it twice, but IIRC if you give them 4 they'll use 3 on the first cast and 1 on the second, which buys you essentially nothing.
