a funny thing happened to me
Is this a problem or not.
Germans (human player) in assault mission are just starting forward when I an message comes up along the bottom of the screen to the effect that "Rifle Squad removes 1 barbed wire".
None of my fine riflemen are anywhere near the defenders barbed wire so I assume the defender's are removing it themselves.
Is this a problem or just good luck on my part?

I was sure of that; doesn't answer the question though.

Re: a funny thing happened to me
I recall an earlier post that said that wire, mines and dragon teeth were neutral and once laid affect and are affected by both sides equally. So I suspect that the AI has decided to advance through wire it laid down earlier, or has positioned troops in a wire hex who are automatically clearing the wire.

That is correct. Engineers for example will always attempt to remove any of those obstacles they find directly in front of them. If the AI set up just happens to place an engineer unit, for example, facing directly towards a hex with wire/mine/DT it will start to remove them and it won't matter if it's yours or the AI's

Re: a funny thing happened to me
In RL if the AI command would put my squad in a trench with wire, Id try to remove it myself, whatever the commanding AI had to say about it. So nothing wrong there..
