Space Empires Roleplaying Community

Hi all.
You sure didnt hear from us, the roleplaying guys, for a real while but never wondered why.
The reasons were too much troubles and conflicts between various peoples and other semi-personal or personal issues.
Now we all there are trying to do something to not let the community die completely, but we're too few there.
I just thought that some of the very many people from here just might help us a little, and perharps even join our roleplaying, which I personaly fine quite fun... when the things are good.
So i just thought i'd add that topic here, you never know.

SpaceEmpires has long thrived on it's strong role playing community until recently. Many incidents of people insulting each other and trying to drive others out and trying to control the community is repsonsible. I won't name names.

But we are beginning massive development and, soon, contruction of a new role playing community.

I encourage all people to take part in the restoration of Space Empires Role Playing.

Excuse my ignorance, but do you mean Roleplaying a la Traveller, or more along the lines of taking the role of Galactic warlord to heart, like a cosmic game of Diplomacy?

What happened to the Ladder? It doesn't look as fun as it was before.

The very reason I dropped the ladder was because certain individuals thought it was important to the rest of us to see how well they could throw insults, usually an RP thread would degenerate into insults at some point.
I dont think its possible to do a decent RP by forum anymore unless the forum admins are willing to permanently boot someone the first time they start flaming people and acting like fools.

If I knew that there was a no tolerance policy enforced I would probably be inclined to come back to the ladder again or join the SpaceEmpires.org RP games.

So I guess I will just keep doing PBW to fullfill my meglomania until that happens.......

I understand your points AJC, as I was one of them. Fortunately, those days are over now and part of this project is to repolish the base of a tarnished part of this community.

SE.org maintains a zero-tolerance on flaming and bashing. Indeed, when GTKK was flamed when he was leaving, I Banned the responsible parties for good the second I saw the post. Indeed, my forum as had maybe 2 flame incidents in the Last year.

This project is to right all the wrongs and improve the community to bring it back into focus.

Hopefully you'll return. Your input would be very much valued.

That would be the latter, basically like the various "Game Stories" threads, only nowhere near the complexity, and all of them are linked in the same "universe". And the only reason the complexity (by that I mean the tiny details of what every ship, government official, etc. is doing) isn't there is because most of the people either didn't have time to do it, didn't have the experience to know how, or both.

For me, it was fun while I did it. I think it made me a much better writer, but in the end, I didn't have the time to create everything I wanted to do with my roleplay. Add in the fact that there were about three or four factions of leaders -- all wanting to do things differently -- fractured the community, and it just wasn't worth it for me anymore. I do hope they've reconciled everything now. I tried to create compromises while I was still active, but there were still a lot of unresolved disputes.

I would go back and check it out, but I still don't have any time to do RP properly. I barely get an hour of SE4 a week

Will, AJC, and others who left the RPG community and are probably there, i really say you should try and return, for if you had enjoyed the RPG as much as i did, you'd sure want it to continiue. I do.

Again, i call everyone who cares to help us, even if you dont care joining. It is a great fun, and i suppose if done well, it does have a future.
