Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
I've got 3:
1- build a castle. That's been in the works for the last 2 years. Land is lined up and some income sponsors are already on board.
2- travel into space. The moon would be ideal but even into zero-g orbit would do the trick.
3- seeing how my kids are going to grow up and give them the best possible life I can. Not to spoil them, but to enjoy life with them.

10 million dollers. It would be my answer to anything and everything... oh how happy I would (hopefully will?) be!

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Oh, yes. I imagine you would be. You'd have all these newfound friends and relatives who would be so happy to celebrate your newfownd wealth with you.

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
It might be hard to tell who your true friends are until you are in some kind of trouble. If you then lost the millions of dollars, how many of these new friends would disappear, and how many would continue to be friends?

10 million dollars is useless unless you work for it. People who win the lottery, for example, go broke soon after. People who work for the money know how to budget money well, and keep it.

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
Ashton is totally right. even if you had more money than you could reasonably waste in your lifetime, you dont value it in the same way as if you had worked for it.
this isnt just true for money, but anything that you get without having to work for.
I think its safe to say that most people on this board either have had teenagers, or can remember being one. Or, in Mac's case, Grand-Teenagers Just think of how they treat that first car their parents buy them, compared to the second one that they have to pay for themselves. Think of how they act in college if they are working a part time job and fishing for their own grants and scolarships and loans, vs how they act if mommy and daddy are footing the bill for them.
Sure, theres exceptions. You might treasure a gift someone gives you more than you would something you got for yourself, due to sentimental value. but in general, freebies dont get the same reverance that is due something that you had to bleed for.
and if you think about it; things like rights, ideas, and values work the same way.

I thought money won was twice as sweet as money earned. Or am I thinking of sugar?

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
10 million dollars would be fantastic. You would never have to work again: even if you know nothing about investing and just put it all in the bank at 3% interest, you would get $25,000 per month without depleting the principal. Of course, you'll have to pay taxes on the interest and there's inflation as well, so let's say you only spend $10,000 per month. That's $10,000 per month, forever, every month, without having to work. That's pretty good! With the time freed up from not having to work, and the money, you could do a lot of fun and interesting things: travel, learn new skills, help the people you care about, do the things you always wanted to do but didn't have the time or money.

Re: OT: What is your deepest dream/desire?
i know people that make more than that in a month. some of them still live in debt, and none of them are effortlessly rich. they all work hard for the money, and spend it hard.
