Question about Tartarian Gate
If you cast Gift of Reason on a feebleminded Tartarian and then heal the affliction with a Chalice, will the Tartarian then have magic ability?

Re: Question about Tartarian Gate
If the Tartarian has any magic to begin with (I think all do, and I know most do), yes.

The description in Zen's summoning guide states that only Tartarian commanders have magic paths, so maybe the Tartarian doesn't have magic paths since he is not a commander to begin with. (Which is why I was thinking of casting Gift of Reason.)

Re: Question about Tartarian Gate
Units may have magic paths, but they aren't shown: for example, Wished commanders, Enslaved commanders, and Tartarians. I think there might be one kind of basic Tartarian that doesn't have any magic, but I'm not sure; all the others have magic, even if they start as basic units.

Re: Question about Tartarian Gate
Every last Tartarian has magic levels, and all can utilize said levels so long as they are sane commanders, regardless of whether they were initially feebleminded and/or basic units.
Mind you, some might argue the Monstrum's two magic levels aren't worth the cost of Gift of Reason, but I'm strongly inclined to disagree. The head slot can also be much more useful than one might assume.

Re: Question about Tartarian Gate
Short: If they are random, they are random, otherwise not !
Long:
The spell does not "make" a new commander from the unit, it simply sets the commander flag. If the unit has magical abilities depends solely on it's type ID, eg. #771 for a "Tartarian Cyclops", which has A2 E3 as soon as he is a commander. If the unit type says "random skills", the unit gets a random skill upon becoming a commander. (Or is it pre-rolled already?)
