Re: Game crashes with XP
Unfortunately neither the Win98 compatibility mode, nor disabling all the other codes except MP3 did solve the problem. I did everything exactly following your guide but it didn't help.
some other ideas..?
(nevertheless this prob, WinSPMBT and it's new features are a great step foreward. A big THANKS to the developers and all involved people!!)

Re: Game crashes with XP
The 98 compatiblity fix did not work for me at all. An instantaneous crash in a battle that worked before and after with sound effect off. Thanks for the effort.

Re: Game crashes with XP
My problem is different I have a color problem in full screen mode but the game works fine in windowed mode??? In full screen I get like a photo negative on all screens except the game itself where only "smoke" is in the "negative" but makes it hard to play in full screen cause you have to use the other setup screens so often.
Setup is Athlon thunderbird 1.4 gig
ATI Radeon 9200E with 128 mem
512 machine mem
onboard sound card emulates soundblaster 128
I tried new vid drivers, running in "other modes" i.e 98, me, etc nothing seems to work, even tried setting my back ground to 600x800 as the game is.

My XP Athlon 1800 test machine uses a Radeon 9200 128MB. so that is possibly not the probem?.
It's the first time this specific problem has been reported as well.
What is your monitor? LCD or CRT?
Cheers

Re: Game crashes with XP
Hmmm monitor is a 20" CRT p260 IBM. It has me guessing also, I have tried all the "windows" fixes I know short of tearing down the code (which I am unable to do anyway). All my other games run fine and I have some OLD games LOL (all of the old DOS SSI steel panthers which of course donot run on xp very well if at all). I have all of BF's games running with no problems (CMBO etc) so not sure what it could be?? The wife has AOL on my machine so I ALWAYS suspect that LOL. Thanks for the quick reply sorry you didn't have a quick fix I hadn't thought of :}

Re: Game crashes with XP
Well I finally got the game to run in full screen had to mess with video settings abit but in the end after messing around for about an hour I did a reinstall and set everything back to where it was in the beginning and the game worked???? Wish I knew what changed but apparently I had something hung up and all the messing and rebooting cleared it

Re: Game crashes with XP
Welp my problem is solved as I suspected AOL messed with my video card, as soon as I turn it off completely the problem went away.
