Default Battle Location Question

I need to generate several base maps of terrain similiar to the Northeastern Mexico/South Texas (Laredo) area for a small campaign I am contemplating. I could probably do some testing but someone out there may be able to save me some time.

QUESTION;

In the Map Generator which of the included Battle Location choices would give me the closest or at least a base that would need minimal editing?

I don't really know the landscape of Northeastern Mexico/South Texas (Laredo) area, but you may try the western desert location #143...

cheers,

Try Syria vs. Israel in the editor set to desert.

When the map appears use the = key to generate different versions and see if there are ones there that suit your purposes. If you want fewer hills try Egypt vs. Israel

Once your tried that a few times press "," comma, The enter 500 to get to the generator. Now you can fine tune the map. Try different hill heights and etc. You will occasionally see the red earth and yellow sand appear as well as the red sand terrain. Keep clicking until you get what you want

NOTE: With desert maps increasing "mud" will give you more arid earth. ( Try 100 to start then move up ) different maps will give different effects when this is tried so experiment. There are a HUGE number of possiblities available in a generated map with the tools we have included and the map editor in the CD version allows you to cut and paste map sections.

No problem. Do everything the same as I mentioned the first time only set the climate to summer. Try june to start by then try April or september with it set to summer as well as there are different terrain features added for spring and fall that may be closer to what you want.
Then when you have a map you think sort of works press ','(comma) then 500 then press the blue > arrow button to generate variations but keep in mind that there are more than one map type for each nation combination so you generally will get a variety. Once you are in the map generation screen you can set the controls to give you anything you want with a little practice. If there are too many hills and they are too high when the MG makes a map then lower them with the controls and press the blue > button to make a new version
