Well, I am finally going to get a test game going. It is using the latest TDM mod.

The conditions are as follows:

Large Spiral Arm quadrant, all warp points connected, all player planets same size. All events turned off.

Tech costs are low. All techs available except applied intelligence.

Starting resources medium, one good home planet. Low tech, low racial points available.

No random AI's or neutrals. Computer difficulty high, computer bonus low.

Victory is Last empire standing.

The participants are as follows:

1. Azorani Alliance (me)
2. Angelican Regency (AI I am refining - shipset by John Beech)
3. Space Vikings
4. Sergetti Empire (TDM AI)
5. EEEvil Empire
6. Rage Collective (AI being tweaked slightly)
7. Xi'Chung (TDM AI)
8. Vaxin League (AI being tweaked slightly)
9. Aquilaeian Empire (TDM AI)
10. Pyrochette Empire (TDM AI)
11. Star Empire of Romii (AI being tweaked slightly - shipset by John Beech)
12. Toron Confederation (TDM AI)

I will post updates as the game progresses.

Alpha Kodiak go to the Politics file. You have the lines "Accept Treaty Base Anger Level = 25" and "Propose Treaty Base Anger Level = 30". Increase these values and the Vaxin will accept more often treaties or propose treaties themselves. The United Federation of Planets has e.g. values of 50 for both lines and accepts and proposes treaties with almost erveryone. Of course the settings in the Anger files are also important, because they should not get angry to easily. So you might change the values there too: reduce all values that increase the anger level. Again you may have a look at the files of very peaceful races to get an idea of the appropriate values.
I had the same impression in my test game, that the Vaxin are not as peaceful as you described them in the General text file.

I have had contact with the Vikings, the Sergetti and the Torons. War with the Vikings, T&R with the Torons.

The Angelican Regency is at war with the Xi'Chung. They have had no other contacts.

The Vikings are at war with me. They have had no other contacts.

The Sergetti have encountered me and the Torons. They are at war with the Torons.

The EEEvil Empire is at war with the Rage (surprise, surprise ). They have had no other contacts.

The Rage are at war with the EEEvil Empire. They have had no other contacts.

The Xi'Chung are at war with the Angelican Regency. They have had no other contacts.

The Vaxin have a TA with the Aquilaeians. They have had no other contacts.

The Aquilaeians, having just accepted a TA from the Vaxin, just declared war on the Vaxin. They have had no other contacts.

The Pyrochette have had no contacts.

The Romii have just encountered the Vikings.

The Torons have encountered the Sergetti and me. They are at war with the Sergetti and have a T&R with me.

Observations:

The Vikings and I have going at it since early in the game. That is causing problems for both of us as we lose ships and divert resources to our war machines. In addition, the Vikings have blown me off of a couple of planets. Most annoying....

The Romii are in trouble because they have a black hole with a damaging warp point two systems from home. They are now sending a lovely stream of ships into the netherworld via the black hole.

The Pyrochette are in a very strong position, isolated from the other races that are mostly trying to rip each other's hearts out. I suspect that they will do very well in this game. They usually show pretty well, anyway, and with this position, they should dominate.

The Aquilaeians' strange reversal diplomatically with the Vaxin was interesting, but AI politics usually is a little unstable.

Thanks! I've tweaked the Version of the Vaxin that I am testing in this current game, and they actually made peace with the first race they encountered. Most refreshing....

Very good . I have ended my test game, btw. There was not much happening anymore, since most of the AI had maxed out their research. I declare Vaxin the winner. Orks 2nd. Vikings 3rd. Cephalopeia 4th. Aquilaeian 5th. Minbari 6th (note to the designer: they had a good economic base, but didn't build enough ships). EEEvil 7th (part of it being bad luck, part of it building DN without sensors)

Yes, that can be a real killer for the AI. I do all my tests on black hole free quadrants now.

Any news on the test game? Or does it only run on weekends ?

I really wish that you could run automatic tests. Like run for 100 turns and make a save every 10 turns.

Unfortunately, I am even lucky to get time on the weekend. I thought I would be able to squeeze a little more in, but since my Last post, I've managed about seven turns total. Hopefully, I'll manage to get some more turns in before the week is over. I'll post the results when I can.

The Vikings are holding on by a thread as I have been pounding them with everything I've got. So far, the designs look good and the ships are tough to beat. We are only up to using destroyers at this point, so I don't know how the later designs will work out.

*sniff* Those poor little Vikings .

I have made some changes to the LC designs, you can find them in the newest Version (but you have to rename the file, because the race name changed). I could also just send you the new DesignCreation. That is of course only, if you expect them to be around long enough to get Light Cruisers .
