Default Dominion Lowers Unrest?

I read in an old post that dominion lowers unrest, and that specifically, taller candles (higher dominion?) do a better job. Any idea by how much? This seems pretty key in staving off unrest producing spells, keeping unrest down while if you bloodhunt, and generally reducing the need for population death from patrolling.

Anyone know if this is true?

Also, what - if anything - does the height of the candle do for you? Is this just a measure of how long it will take before the other guy can undo your dominion?

Default Re: Dominion Lowers Unrest?

I am not sure about the effect Dominion has on unrest. It seems pretty low to me, but then, I tend to prefer lowering taxes to keep in check these pesky rebels.

The height of the candle shows your Dominion strength in this province. The higher it is, the more powerful your spiritual powers are in this province. It makes it harder for the enemy to replace your Dominion, weakens his Pretender and Prophet while increasing the powers of your own Pretender/Prophet. A high Dominion also increases the effects of a few special Dominions; namely C'tis Miasma, and the destructive Ashen Empire, Soul Gate and Carrion Woods Dominions.

To the best of my knowledge, the number of holy troops you can recruit in a province depends on your global Dominion strength rather than on your local Dominion; I may be wrong on this one though (I have only recruited sacred troops at the capital for now). Lastly, province Dominion strength has likely an effect on how quickly your capital scales spread in this province; if this reasoning is correct, it would also make speed up offsetting scale changes linked to spells/events.

Player 1 (You) does not affect Player 1 (your) dominion positively or negatively as far as unrest is conerned.

However, Negative Dominion Player 1 with Player 2 (Enemy) causes minor amounts of unrest (0-5ish) in provinces you control.
