Re: Try out the Emblems-mod at the Illwinter site!
I like them a lot...can't wait to see them in the game!
Comments:
1. Ermor gives me more of a pirate feeling than a total-undead-brain eating feeling.
2. What is the Atlantis emblem? I can't make it out. Is it seaweed?
3. Jotunheim is nice, but my personal preference would be for something that relates size and cold. Like a snowcapped mountain? Just an opinion.
4. I really like Mictlan!
5. Ditto for Pangaia!
Overall, a great job!

Re: Try out the Emblems-mod at the Illwinter site!
Thanks!
For Ermor I was looking more of a Grim Reaper feel than a Romero one, but now that I look at it, it does associate with pirates... hmm...
The Atlantis thingy is supposed to be coral, admittedly it is too complex a design for these resolutions. Zooming in it looks nice enough. Made a seahorse too, which was nice, but I guess I'll be reserving it for the rumored 3rd water nation.
You can't get cooler than the head of Ymir!
Keep 'em coming!
Personally I dislike the tongs of Ulm, and in fact have replaced it with a nice emblem for Black Forest now, too bad you can't mod separate flags for separate themes.

Nice to see someone pick a fight with Unwise for Flag Supremacy.
That said I don't think I'll be using your mod as it is. Some of the icons are very large (or tall). They make the map look crowded in my opinion. Try testing out various sizes to see what format you like the best. Then use the same size for all the icons rather than different for each nation. If you want to use icons that are tall and thin then you might want to tilt them a bit to the right.
The fewer colors the icon has the better. Flags rarely have more than three after all.

Anyone have an image shot of it?

Well, yeah, of course I fiddled around with unisize insignia, but I dug more the more diversified approach. The reason for the mod was, after all, the somewhat stale feel the traditional flags conveyed. These don't try to be flags, but emblems; the more embellished the better. As to the crowdiness: it's more a matter of defaultmapzoom, I think, as on some maps even the fort and temple symbols seem intrusive. Good points though, always glad for a chance to explain my artistic vision
@Gandalf: I sent you some 'shots, sorry for the large size of the file, couldn't help it. (And yes, you can host it, I know you want to )

Re: Try out the Emblems-mod at the Illwinter site!
If anyone else wants to see some screen shots they are here. http://www.dom2minions.com/~dominion/maps/icons/ It very good work. Im sure it will be well received.
But the only icon that bugs me is the independents one. I dont mind seeing the national ones but Id like the independent one to be more subtle than the nationals. Smaller, or just a grey diamond or something

Sadly it isn't possible (far as I know) to mod the indy flag. As soon as it is, though, I'll be cooking something up.
Thanks for hosting btw!

No problem. Its not just my site. Its my server in my house so I dont have any limitations to have to worry about. The only one with the power to limit me or shut it down is the Budget Manager (my wife)
