IIRC a damaging Warp Point does 200Kt damage. The ONLY thing that will protect you is Armor. If you have 200Kt or more, you'll make it thru the WP (just your Armor will be damaged). Shields are totally ineffective against damaging WP's. Armor IS your only solution (except of course for stellar manip).

i've colonized as much as i can throughout my home cluster but evertime i try to get through a wormhole to a new cluster it gives my ships damage and then the get sucked right into a black hole what can i do i've tried raising my shiel levels but that doesn't work much

I remember playing a game where the warp point leading out of my home *system* was a damaging warp point leading to a black hole. I researched Astrophysics and then Stellar Manipulation before anything else so I could create my own warp point out of the system. Meanwhile, I just kept sending colony ships through it. Eventually, one of them came through without a scratch and built a colony on the other side. After I built a spaceyard on the planet, I repaired all my damaged colony ships and used them to colonize other planets in the system.

Or, ou can take the other advice listed here and wait until you research Light Cruiser. Add a colonization module to the ship and then add seven armor. Your ships should come through just fine. If there are two damaging warp points, you may have to build a repair ship or two with armor on it.

The AI is really dumb when it comes to black holes. I think you'll find that the black hole provides awesome defense against the AI. It turned out to be one of my easiest games. Hope it works out for you.

Uh, get armor... chemistry + armor 3, put 5 pieces of lvl 3 armor... and you'll be fine (if you don't have room on colony ships, make a colony ship out of a medium transport... that 200ton colony module counts towards the cargo requirement.)

P.S. if you got to go through 2 damaging warp points, you'll need 10 pieces!

What Tech level are you at? If you have the right tech, you can close those Black Holes. Or you can try to open new warp points to other systems.

Bigger ships, more shields, more armour. Build a repair ship to fix the damage once you get to th other side.

If you can get through with more than a few engines left you should be able to get past the black hole and out the other side. (Unless the other warp point is damaging too, which means even bigger ships, even more armour, even more shields=-)

You could try researching stellar
manipulation and making your own, safe warp point. Might take a while though, depending on your current resarch status.

You don't have to use a transport hull. I've put a colony component on an armored light cruiser to get past bad WPs.

True, but you get 600KT transports before you get 600KT battlecruisers. I know you don't have to use 600KT, but you can transport a high starting population to your new planet, plus a repair module in case it takes damage to the armor.

Unless you are trying to put enough armor on the ship to go safely through multiple damaging warp points, you only need the space provided by the light cruiser (400KT).

I am just gonna say that the medium transport hull costs less then the LC. So you win both ways. And you get a ton of starting population.
