Newbie strategy help please?
Even playing on Easy mode, I keep dying to the pirates even when I am in my home sector, terran. Running does't work, and fighting two at a time, with my beginner ship, even slightly upgraded, doesn't do the trick. How are you all surviving?

Re: Newbie strategy help please?
Because you noted that you have the demo only, and I wanted to see if there are any other approaches.

Re: Newbie strategy help please?
One way to survive is to skirmish near a spaceport. When you get hurt too much, scoot over and get repaired.
This can chew through a bit of cash though...
Finding another Terran ship and getting it involved in the fight helps too.
Part of the problem is the initial weapons are kinda pathetic. If you can get a capital missile, or a better beam weapon, that can help too.

Re: Newbie strategy help please?
Against multiple enemies, try to manouever so that you use one ship as a shield against the others.
If they fire torpedoes, and you duck behind one of their friends, the torpedoes will nail the enemy ship instead of you.
Also, beam weapons will be cut off when something moves between the shooter and the target.
Done right, you'll take damage from only one enemy while his friends bLast his far side into dust.
