All,
First off I hope everyone is having (well those in the U.S. that celebrate it
) a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. I wanted to make a quick comment about some of the recent issues on the Boards in regard to Off Topic Posts. Also let me thank Gandalf for the tireless work he has done on the board in the Last few months trying to make the Boards in general a better place for everyone. I do want to clear up one misconception though...
Off Topic Posts are fine, and are encouraged within the Shrapnel community. One thing that sets our company apart, from many others, is our desire to grow and embrace our community and give them a home to discuss our games but to also discuss the other aspects of their lives that interest and concern them. Sometimes these conversations can bring great happiness, and others times they can lead to strife and discord. But in the end everyone comes back due to the common themes that bind them together.
What has happenned in the Last few days is simply a misunderstanding, and certaintly no reflection on any specific topic , Moderator, or employee of Shrapnel Games. If you have any specific questions about this I would ask that you address them to me privately via PM from here on out.
As has always been the rule if you see a post that you believe is getting out of hand please escalate to a Moderator so that they can discuss it behind closed doors and decide if things have gotten out of hand. In general I have always been proud of how we can get into heated discussions on this board, yet in the end of the day we come back together and patch things up.
But again these is no planned crack down on Off Topic Posts, and if there any concerns about that please direct them to myself, Annette, or Tim.
Thanks...
