Re: Question about Neo Standards
A neostandard shipset includes up to twenty new images aboive and beyond the usual escort, frigate, destroyer...
The new sizes include scout, infantry, worldship, massive carrier and more. Many mods, including most "big name" mods use some or all of the images to make the game look better and differentiate all their new and wonderful hull sizes.
For example, in Proportions, you can build a "massive base ship" which uses the neostandard's worldship image. In Pirates and nomads, the same image is used to illustrate the "battlemoon". In Star Wars mods it might be used to represent a death star. You get the idea.
Therefore if a shipset has a worldship image, it wlil look particularly cool in the above mods. However if that set doesn't happen to have a worldship image, it doesn;t matter because the game will use some other image instead.
Read more and find some related downloads and links on my website: Click the banner below and then look for the neostandard link.
I recommend downloading the neo-expansion pack, which makes the games stock races (Phong, drushocka etc) at least partially neostandard compliant. If you are using se4 classic rather than Gold, then the neoexpansion pack is even more strongly recommended because you'll want to upgrade the generic set.
