Yup again, its a classic sucker move. Never managed to pull it off on PBW myself, but not from lack of trying.

Question about Stealth Armor
Hi guys, I am a Space empires newbie and am just enjoing my first PBW game, and its GREAT but besides that I am still encountering some troubles.
so here it goes: as far as the manual says the stealth armor should prevent me from seeing an enemyship equiped with it, because all my ships (I dont got any sensor except for combat sensors at the moment) can only do active EM scans lvl 1.
is this true?
and if this is true, why to hell can I still see his stealth armor ships?
I am not using any longrange scanners nor have a got any patnerships.
thanx for answering this
have fun

Re: Question about Stealth Armor
Grettings and welcome to the game and forum.
Do you have a partnership with another race? If so they might have a partnership with him and their for you normally would be able to see his ships.
I think that in some game, but I could be wrong, it is possible to see enemy ships at even the lower level treaties.

Re: Question about Stealth Armor
Just to confirm, you have no partnerships with any other players in the game?
Is this game using a mod?
Is he forgetting to activate his stealth armor and cloak his ships? You would know this from how they show up on screen. If they are actually cloaked but you are still seeing them they will have a dashed circle around them. If there is no circle, then he hasn't actually cloaked his ships.

Re: Question about Stealth Armor
Welcome to the forums and PBW, always good with some fresh meat
If the ship is cloaked (cloaking on), you will see a dashed circle around it. Many players, myself included, often add the stealth armor to the designs for the combat bonuses and not for the stealth ability.
Beware though; Even if your opponent have left that one ship uncloaked, there can still be a cloaked fleet hiding under the ship you can see. If you attack, all ships in the sector will engage, cloaked or uncloaked.
Also remember; Cloaked ships dont sweep mines. The best way to insure that someone dont sneak a cloaked fleet behind your defences is to drop a few mines at all warppoits.

Re: Question about Stealth Armor
Hehe, newbie or not, Maerlyn is the leading player in that particular game. I sure glad he's on my side, at least for now.

Re: Question about Stealth Armor
wow, now I am astonished! I never expected so fast replies by so many players. looks like there are quit a few other SEIV addicted people out there besides me
ok, thanx a lot guys, I know now what happened (at least I believe I know)
No, I aint got any partnerships, but I didnt know that you have to turn on cloaking armor (stupid me) and since I dont see any circle around his ships it seems like he didnt didnt turn on the cloaking button. and thanx for that, because now i know that there still might be a few more ships around.
since you reply so fast a few more questions about cloaking: as you say Primitive, is it true that a cloaked mine sweeper who enters an enemy minefield will explode? (or at least take damage from the mines?) mines detect cloaked ships, dont they?
if I attack his fleet and he has got cloaked ships and none cloaked ships, will his cloaked ships also take part in the battle?
thanx a lot again

Re: Question about Stealth Armor
Also, if your ship is cloaked and you make it to attack an enemyship which does not see you, there is no combat.
You also want to add scattering armor into your ships. Their 15% defence bonus is cumulative with stealth armor (together they add 30% to your defence).
