The Best ever ST episode.
Yes, it is subjective, but I just watched once again the rerun of ST:TNG episode about Tammarians - aliens who speak in metaphors and I realised it has everything - suspence, misunderstanding, truly alien cultures, VERY good acting.
I think it was the perfect ST !!

Except for one thing. Paul Winfield shouldn't have been speaking his metaphors in English (or basic or common). The language should have been different. This has been my pet peeve about Star Trek for the longest time. How come everyone seems to speak English, even in a first contact situation? At least they're trying to show how it should be in Enterprise.
As far as my Favorites, here's a list (can't remember all of the titles):
ST: Balance of Terror
Space Seed
Court Martial
ST:TNG: Yesterday's Enterprise
almost all of the Klingon episodes
There are a few more, but I"m pressed for time and I just can't remember the titles right now.

Re: The Best ever ST episode.
The metaphors were the one thing that couldn't be translated automatically. The individual words could be, but not the sentences, since they involved specific events in their history and emotions/actions/etc associated with them.
"O Avenger em X100, com agitao do punho. O Matador em Curyok IV, ela luzes escurece"
You try translating that into its intended meaning ( http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr )
Take your best shot, and I'll tell you what it means later.

Ahh yes, the Universal Translator. Lord knows how it works, but it does it's job brilliantly.
Just like the Inertial Compensators that all Federation Ships have. Afterall, without ICs, as soon as a Ship went to warp all the people in the ship would turn into tomato paste.
Star Trek is great at creating technology that solves all the problems you could face, and do it without much explanation.
Getting back on topic though, my favorite episodes are:
ST:TOS - Mirror Mirror
ST:TNG - Relics (with Scotty & the Dyson's Sphere)
STS9 - Trials & Tibbleations
ST:Voyager - The 2 part episode with the USS Equinox.
ST:Enterprise - The Last episode of the 2nd season where Florida gets scorched and the Enterprise goes on a mission of revenge.
