Attn: Krsqk, Re: Component Creator
Haven't heard much from you lately on the Component Creator. I am using ver .90 quite a bit for my Art of War mod, and I came across a couple of things.
It appears that when the creator makes a series of components, it's not putting a space in "Pic Num" and it's coming out as "PicNum" which causes errors with SEIV. It's easy enough to do a search and replace in wordpad, which is what I have been doing, but if you ever update it you might want to fix that.
Also, would it be possible to change the program so I can cut+paste into and out of the creator, instead of having to make a single comp text file, load it, create my series, save the series, open that and cut+paste it into my components.txt file. Seems like a lot of extra steps. Would be nice.
Thanks for a great tool though. Even with the quirks it saves me a lot of time.

Re: Attn: Krsqk, Re: Component Creator
Which one is which, Geo?
I used the one that came with the CD, and I like it, but it kinda has a 16 bit feel ot it. The other one out there that is a bit more windows-looking and newer was lacking certain things, like when choosing a sound, there didnt appear to be a browse option, just 'name that sound!' *lol* Which for me was bad at first as I was unfamiliar with them, and didnt really wanna havta open another window to see the sounds directory.
Im thinken its the latter, though... that one appears quicker and more up-to-date, but I had a few qualms with it, and sadly have turned to just text editors for the most part. Both have their merits though, and are somewhere on this damn harddrive *lol*

Re: Attn: Krsqk, Re: Component Creator
No, he's talking about one I programmed in winPython. I've got good news and bad news about it. The good news is, I found your typo, and it's fixed. Also, I think you can already cut/paste in the window. You can copy text from the box by pressing CTRL-C and paste using CTRL-V. Right-clicking the mouse may also work. If you paste text in, try the "Parse Text" option in the menu.
The bad news is, there might be some bugs in this function, since I didn't exhaustively test it. More bad news: I've broken one copy of the source code, and my backup was bad. I still have all of the pieces, but they're not put together in the same order they had been. I wasn't aware that anyone was actually using the program, so I didn't bother going back and reassembling it. If you are interested in an update, let me know, and I'll see what I can do. The data files might not be compatible, but the text parsing should be much better (i.e., bug-free). I'm working on moving right now, though, so it might be a while before I put in some quality time reacquainting myself with the code. Let me know what you want.
[edits--can't remember how my own program works right this minute. I need to go to bed.]

Re: Attn: Krsqk, Re: Component Creator
Hey, no problem. Like I said the PicNum thingy is so easy to fix with a search and replace in worpad I almost hesitated to mention it. It's not worth reinventing the code for if you don't have it anymroe.
Also, I didn't even try the keyboard cut+paste. You are right that does work. The mouse right click does not, that's what I had already been trying. The only odd thing I noticed is when I paste the series into my comp.txt file it's not in the correct font/size. But I don't think SEIV will care about that, and I think that's easily fixed in word pad too.
Thanks!

Re: Attn: Krsqk, Re: Component Creator
Well, I plan on getting around to the code in a while. RL is just a little too demanding right now. Hopefully, I'll be getting Visual Basic soon, so the next Version of the program might be a little smaller. I'll let you know when I have something new to download.
[edit]Thanks for the bug report, though. Let me know if you find anything else quirky.
