Hi all.
Yes its again a thread from me
Is the a possibility to modify the tech of the given race by modifying the .emp file, or .sav file or whatever?

Re: A litthe Q\' from me
The EMP file, yes.. sorta. Only by giving it a racial tech in pre-game setup and then saving/using that EMP file.
Otherwise, not that I know of.

Re: A litthe Q\' from me
You can't change a race setup for a game that has already started.
You can change the EMP by:
1) start a new game
2) "add existing empire" (an .EMP file)
3) edit the empire
4) "Save empire" (to an .EMP)
The only way to change the techs a race gets during the game is to change the mod. (IE. edit racialtraits.txt, components.txt, etc, and swap one racial tech for another)

Re: A litthe Q\' from me
No, i mean if i want to create an .emp file of a race with all wanted techs without going & researching it through the game and then saving the game.
(hint - im about to start doing a scenario)

Re: A litthe Q\' from me
Starting techs are not a part of the game, if that's what you're asking.
There was a thread on how to mod some starting techs a while back...
But, anyways: if you're doing a scenario, just turn off all the AI in the game, and play the first 20 turns or so.
You can make each empire do whatever research you desire, without them expanding.
You can then also go around and build ships, rename planets, anything.
I like the idea of using a super-race (all racial techs, say) which can gift one Supership (which cannot be fully repaired by any single race) to each player before abandoning all ships & planets (and being removed from the game.
