Default SP: How much difference does scenario/map make?

Till now I kept beating AI, playing up to 1-below-top (Mighty?) bunch of random AIs, random map, probably "medium" average size.

So, over-confident, I try the "Dawn of Dominions" against all Impossible AIs, and lose ugly.

Am I just unlucky? Or, is the situation much better for the AI here, if so how?

Well, Impossible is a lot worse than Mighty, so that could be part of it. Also, on a random map you have good odds of starting in or near a corner that you can push outwards from. Dawn of Dominions is more likely to start you in the middle of trouble.

A scenario map can take the AI players FAR beyond any of the SP settings.
Altho I dont think Dawn of Dominions went into it as much as other games Ive seen set up.
