Mines, Dragonteeth and Wire, Oh My!
OK so read and noted that it is impossible to put more than one type of "thing" in a hex. But then I wondered...
Can we have new "things" that are combinations?
An object that is mines, barbed wire, and dragons teeth costing 3 points. One that is barbed wire and dragons teeth costing 2? Barbed wire and mines for 2? And so on and so forth.
Perhaps the new combo items are harder to clear or easier than one hex of each of their constituents. I don't know that is for the old timers to decide.
Do trenches get included? Off the cuff I say no since trenches can't be cleared.
Dumbest idea ever?
From the restriction comment it becomes obvious that there is a "Hex Has Modification" field that is being checked. What would be the restriction of having these new combo objects?

Re: Mines, Dragonteeth and Wire, Oh My!
Would there be much of practical benefit for such?
Personally, I have found it much more beneficial to deploy obstacles well in depth, rather than trying to cram a lot of them in a single hex. For example, I only place one points worth of mines in a single hex, and I do not usually place mines in every hex (thus leaving corridors for my own forces to pass through as necessary). However, I will compensate for this sparsity by laying the mines in depth, having formed mined areas up to ten hexes deep. Properly covered with MGs, anti-tank weapons, snipers and pre-plotted artillery, these areas can be quite challenging to pass through.

All of these are valid points to be certain. I posted while considering... There have been some spots I would have liked to have mines and dragons teeth stopping enemy Engineering tanks.
The depth that you are talking about doesn't always apply when there is a perfect spot for obstacles with supported defenses. Worse yet, the only obstacles worth using at all against the AI are Mines, since the AI will charge everything full ahead toward your line.
I'm not sure but these "combo" objects do not seem to be a horrible idea?

Re: Mines, Dragonteeth and Wire, Oh My!
For one thing, each hex is 50m and cramming wire with mines ect. is too much,
eng.and infty would discover the mines while trying to clear the wire anyway.
The best way to use these things,is in a layered defence in depth,ie; mines then wire, dragons teeth then wire ect. or vice versa.
EDIT)I see griefbringer already beat me on this matter,

Re: Mines, Dragonteeth and Wire, Oh My!
You can place mines and dragons teeth in the same hex.
However barbed wire cannot be combined with other obstacles.
