Default Questions For Kailasa Gurus

Questions On The White Ones From Kailasa :

1) How does the reincarnation work for the white ones like gurus/yogas/rishi commanders from kailasa? I send them in a battle during a SP game and they all died, nothing happens.

2) What does it take for them to actually reincarnate? Does it only work when they die of old age?

3) If they really does reincarnate into something what affects them from becoming a greater being or banish into been lesser beings.

4) When they reincarnate into greater beings in what terms they actually grow more powerful in?

5) This greater beings and lesser beings are what exactly?

6) When they reincarnate are their ages being reset or they just continue to live on from the month which they died?

Reincarnation only happens very rarely (or at least, White Ones only reincarnate as part of your empire very rarely). Any white monkey can reincarnate, I think, and they're vastly more likely to come back as lesser beings (generally sacred infantry, IIRC). I don't think I've seen anything come back as better than a Guru, but that doesn't mean it's not possible.

For Bandar Log your gurus/yogas/rishi can reincarnate as bandar commanders (and also as gurus, yogas, and add to your domain). Unfortunately, their ages aren't reset and the new Bandar commanders are old. Luckily, I was in a no independents game so the Bandar commanders were still useful. In a normal game normal old bandar commanders aren't too useful, kind of fun though. Hopefully, the age not resetting is a bug and will be fixed.

1) Reincarnation is as far as I know random - you can't specifically trigger it.
2) See 1.
3) I vaguely recall JK once saying that to have a chance to reincarnate as a higher form they need to have lived virtuous lives - no fighting, for example. I don't know the exact mechanism - maybe lch can say more about.
4) One example of higher form: The unit ascends to a state of nirvana. You don't get them back, and you get a boost to your dominion.
5) See 4. Also, as noted above the lesser forms include other types of recruitable ape.
6) Again as already mentioned, age does not appear to be reset.

Well, that's enough to make me not care.

Seriously, how many units do you have die without fighting? This is a war game...

No-one ever said it was a great ability :P

How many units have I had die without fighting? Well, there's all those researchers I lost to armageddon-spam...

I would hazard a guess that game-mechanism wise it could be linked to kill count.

Short answer to OP's questions is: Don't bother trying to turn reincarnation into a strategy.

Totally unrelated to the game, but in Hindu mythology the caste determines what actions are virtuous. For a Kshatriya (warrior caste), it is virtuous to fight and gain honor through martial prowess, performing great sacrifices (of animals, rakshasas, nagas, etc.) and amass wealth and kingdoms. For a brahmin on the other hand, virtue is accumulated through knowledge, ascetism, forgiveness, wisdom, etc.

So for the brahmin commander (presumably the guru too) it might make sense for them to reincarnate into a lower path based on kill count. I can't say if that's something KO thought about when he designed the reincarnation mechanic though.

I've had one die from an assasination and reborn as a commander. A rather old one, too, so not terribly useful.

But if you're using them as researchers it's quite possible that they may not see much action.

The caste of the Gurus is Brahmin. So if they commit bad deeds they would reincarnate low, probably into a Bog Beast or something.
