Default sauro thugs

Hi!

How can a witch king (EA sauro) be turned into an economical thug?

the problem I encountered is that soul vortex wont help him much, becasue - unlike attacking - cannot be scripted after turn5. If I leave him the chance to cast he will cast drain life (after raise deads increas his fatigue to 30ish) and swings whatever is in his hands instead.

Vine shield seems to be a reasonable choice here because of his high defense and reinvig amulet. Horror helm perhaps to pump his aura a little? I would like to avoid spending too much on him.

Or just forget the D3 he has, and use the N2W1 (thistle mace) buffs then order him to charge. But i might just use the NW warrior sorceresses then as well.

?

You only need to cast soul vortex once, before attacking. It's an 'enchantment' of sorts rather than an aoe attack spell.

Why isn't Soul Vortex helpful? Have you tried it?

It's not a one-shot. It produces an effect that lasts for the rest of the battle.

Give him some armor, Frost Brand/Vine Shield, maybe a luck pendant and/or mr booster, script Quicken Self, Soul Vortex, attack.

Differs wildly based on how many enemies are around you and what type of enemies they are.

It's potentially absolutely huge though. Against pd you shouldn't have any fatigue issues and should have the equivalent of excellent regen.

It's expensive though and you're vulnerable to critical hits until you've had a few turns to suck life out of enemies. One trick is to start with some chaff of your own on guard commander. Soul Vortex will drain them and earn back the casting fatigue.

Skellispam or similar will still kill you though.

your warrior sorceresses are probably a better choice for thugs.
